I had an old kindle and was quite happy with it, but Amazon decided not to support them any more, very disappointed. Traded in my old kindle and Amazon in there wisdom gave £5 for it. I bought the latest generation paperwhite kindle. I my goodness I am so disappointed with it. The touch screen is useless far to sensitive ,try to turn a page and very often 2 or 3 pages turn. At times if touch the screen by accident it will shift to anywhere in the book. It's so bad I am going back to paper books. It's hopeless do not buy one!

Like every one else just stay away from kindle. Your device will not be supported in the future. Amazon just wants you to buy another device from them. Terrible policy.

I've personally had 5 kindles in all, that's covers over a 20+ year time span. As has my husband, we're both avid readers.& always loved our kindles. That was until about 3 weeks ago. My kindle which is 2 years old & my husbands latest one ,which is only 11 month old both disconnected from our WiFi I litterly lost count of the number of conversation I had with AMAZON, I spent around 5hrs over a 3 day period conversing with either customer services of their technical team, being told the same thing in 10 different ways, It was both frustrating and infuriating, I was even offered a discount on buying replacement Kindles! I mean why the hell would I do that? Eventually on the 3rd night around 10pm I once again went over the issues we were having, to be told, the area i live in has now been upgraded to 5G, Kindles are NOT compatible with 5G therefore we won't be able to use them anymore!!! She advised me to find another WiFi company that would be a better fit for the kindle. Firstly I'm contracted to my wifi company. And secondly, shouldn't AMAZON have kept up with technology when they plainly know this is an issue. SO PLEASE DON'T BUY A KINDLE IF YOU HAVE 5G WIFI.

I usually have a lot of praise for Amazon, but their dirty little trick of suddenly deciding "not to support" old Kindles after May 20th and force users to buy new "improved" ones if they wish to continue Kindle reading is nothing short of gouging customers! Apart from the fact that my old Kindle is working perfectly, I don't want swipe and tap - simply because manufacturers want to save money by doing away with physical buttons. But they are so massive, they don't care what individual customers think!

“I received a Kindle upgrade offer marketed as 20% off to compensate for my machine being no longer supported. However, the offer only functions effectively through Amazon UK checkout, where Amazon applies an unfavorable GBP/EUR conversion rate and offers paid exchange-rate protection on refunds. After VAT and FX handling, the promotion is materially less valuable for Irish customers than advertised and can be worse than standard Amazon.ie pricing. The 20% off is spurious .

I received a notification on my kindle first thanking me for “being a longtime Kindle customer”, then informing me I will no longer be able to purchase, borrow or download books on my device. I have purchased over 600 books from kindle. I initially loved using my kindle, however, over time the books have become increasingly more expensive and unlike paper books, I pay the same price but cannot share or sell the books I have paid for. I will never buy another kindle. I will go back to paper books or look for another e-reader with better options.

I have just replaced my 15 year old kindle with a new kindle paperwhite 12th generation. I had several hundred books on my old kindle, grouped into 3 categories. The books have not downloaded properly on to the new kindle, and appear to be scattered all over the place. Read books appear in the unread category etc. There is no effective help option. The whole thing is a complete nightmare, and the new kindle is unusable. AVOID
