Insurance is a racket
I am now a 2x customer of Keeper's Storage. The second time I rented a unit, I was told (after checking in, then bringing stuff back to store) that insurance was mandatory, an additional $9/month . The person opening my account claimed it was because of Hurricane Sandy, but that was clearly a lie, as I rented storage in the spring of 2013. You have one task, Keeper's Storage: store my stuff and keep it secure. Why should I buy insurance on top of paying for that service? This is a charge for something I don't want or need, and if I had another choice, I would take it.

Thank you for your feedback. It's always helpful to have our customers' opinions. Our Rental Agreement has not changed since you last stored with Keepers. Insurance has always been the customers responsibility, although now we are asking our customers to provide proof of that insurance. If you prefer to have the contents of the storage space uninsured, please send us an email requesting to be removed from the insurance program - [email protected]. Once we receive the request we will credit your account the original $9.00 and cancel the insurance. Please do not hesitate to call if you would like to discuss this further.
