I would have given it 5 except, there isn;t a way to charge the batteries in the house out of the chair and running a cord outside in the winter is a problem. Also the arm rests seem to be wider than a lot of doors, to save the control arm, the other arm takes the brunt of getting thru doors.

Durable mobile device. Takes 12-15 hours to fully charge from complete depletion. Comfortable & fast. Biggest challenge is the weight of the chair. Extremely heavy if you have both batteries in attached to the chair. Much easier if you slide both out, then lift & place in the car. Size wise, careful not to leave chair in heated car; lithium batteries will overheat. Chair takes up all the trunk space if you d/n have a carrier extension on the outside of your vehicle. Weight to lift is about 50#.

First off, let me say my KD HD smart chair is an awesome chair. I am 6'0", 300 lbs. and it transports me effortlessly. I use it daily and the batteries last several days. I only gave it a four star rating because of the foot rest. This chair is best used by someone that has some mobility and can enter or exit from the side of the chair, not straight on. The footrest is awkward, cumbersome and does not fold up, or out of the way, making it difficult to enter and exit the chair. My only recommendation, to KD, is to redesign the foot rest so it folds up and out of the user's way.

The KD Smart chair has been a big help for me and my caregiver. The two problems I have had is with the foot stand; I always need someone to put it down or push it up and the buttons on the on the gear shift sometimes stick. Many people have stopped to ask me about the chair and I have sung your praises.
