KBM ResortsReviews of kbmresorts.com

Our 3-star rating applies specifically to condo HKK926, where we stayed, and not to Honua Kai Resort itself. The resort is beautiful, well-maintained, and delightful. Unfortunately, the condo was disappointing and did not meet the standard we expected for the nightly rate charged. Several areas of the unit need attention and investment. The carpet is heavily stained in high-traffic areas and is in need of replacement. The kitchen is not adequately stocked for preparing meals or storing leftover food, with insufficient utensils and other basic necessities. All sinks emit a pungent odor, which was unpleasant. The master bathroom tub spout came off when we turned on the water because the threaded portion had corroded through. The vacuum was unusable because its filter was so clogged that it would not pick up anything, and the broom provided was extremely dirty and full of hair. The bifold glass doors across the back of the condo were also very difficult to operate, likely due to exposure to the sea air, to the point that we worried the handle might break off. When we arrived around 10 p.m., the two twin beds had only sheets on them, with no additional blankets. We had to wait until the following day to receive extra bedding. While we appreciated having beach chairs available, all of them were broken in some way and need to be replaced. On a positive note, KBM Resorts was wonderful to work with. Their staff were kind, helpful, and prompt in addressing the issues they could resolve. We appreciated their responsiveness and customer service. I understand that individual condos may be privately owned, and these concerns may reflect the condition and upkeep of this particular unit rather than the resort as a whole. The owners of HKK926 would benefit from investing in the maintenance, furnishings, and small details that make a stay comfortable and help guests feel that the price they pay is truly worthwhile. We loved the resort itself, but based on the condition of this particular condo, we would have expected much more for the rate charged.

The location is unbeatable. The unit was clean. The bed was old and uncomfortable. For these prices, I expect KBM to do better. The apartment was extremely moist. Obviously, weather and climate can not be controlled, but there are ways to manage these things. The dampness of the apartment left a musty smell in the air and our clothing and items felt damp. The pools are nice. The community is well kept. The staff are pleasant. Car rental included in our stay was a nice bonus. I recommend updating the mattresses, the use of damp rid or a dehumidifier, and providing an appropriate amount of toiletries for the length of stay. No one should have to go out and buy soap or body wash while staying here. I did call about soap and was told that a welcome kit had already been provided. When I brought up the idea that I have not had to purchase soap or bodywash at an air bnb, they did send someone to our unit with soap and that was appreciated. Overall, I think for the price you pay for this kind of accommodation, KBM should do better.
