Underwhelming Customer Service
We purchased a KB Home in late 2023, within 2 years the siding had already cracked and came loose. Most likely poor installation or defective materials, siding doesn’t usually fail like that on a nearly new home. When I reached out to KB Home, I was told by customer service that the issue was outside of their warranty window. Upon appeal, I was referred to Greg Franks, Director of Customer Service for the Raleigh/Durham area. Greg asked for photos, which I provided promptly, but then he never followed up. After multiple unanswered emails and calls over the course of a few weeks, I was finally able to catch him on the phone. He simply reiterated that it was out of warranty. A frustrating answer, leaving me confused as to why he would bother asking for pictures and why he would not have just stated that instead of avoiding communications. He threw out a few insincere “solutions”, each shifting the responsibility back onto us or the random contractors they had hired. I felt extremely let down, particularly because KB largely markets itself on superior customer service/satisfaction and warranty protection, none of which I experienced. I shared my disappointment online in the form of reviews, and only then did Greg’s position change. Shortly after the reviews went live, he begrudgingly offered to fix the faulty siding. The first attempt at repair hadn’t lasted more than a few days before coming off again, reinforcing the notion that it was probably not installed the first time. However, they came back a second time, and for the time being it is holding. While I am satisfied with the eventual outcome, I am left severely underwhelmed by the customer service provided.
