I am a beneficiary from my fathers will. My experience with John Hancock, and the handling of my fathers investments were deplorable...at best. Letters saying that I need to call them, then six hours of "I do not know who you should be talking to"etc... There was never a reason for me to have to contact them, they just had no clue what they were doing...

Dealing with John Hancock LTC insurance is one of the horror stories of this decade. Constant runarounds, correspondence from them with no name or title attached so you cannot respond to a PERSON in authority, ridiculous answers to your questions, customer service that's its own nightmare, no opportunity to talk with ANYONE other than Customer Service. How is that even remotely possible when you are routinely paying for the insurance where decisions are made by higher ups that you aren't given the opportunity to speak with??? Definitely filing a complaint with the Insurance Commission in my state to see if they are willing to do anything about my list of grievances against this company. Am also writing letters to JHLTC leadership team and BOD to see if anyone at that level will be offended enough to effect change. I am so tired of businesses behaving badly with impunity....seems to be the norm in today's climate.

Terrible unethical company.

Do not trust this company when it comes to your money. They messed so many things up on my withdrawal request that it almost seems intentional. The issues are still not resolved. I even told them if they merely responded to my email to customer service, that I would not write this review. They don't even care enough to avoid negative reviews, which is the sign of a company who is well aware of their limitations.

This company is not customer focused and they don’t alert you when your contract will be expiring. You need to stay on top of them because they are not proactive. They gladly took our money and then offered no exceptions, exclusions, nor credits for future trip insurance. I will not be contacting them for future travels plans. Keep looking for alternatives.

I, too, wish I could give them zero stars - they hold onto your money and charge outrageous fees. Customer service is a joke - you get someone from the other side of the planet that does not speak or understand English, and they always have an excuse - it's my money and when I need it, I need access to it, not a HARD TIME - they are absolutely the worst - a withdrawal request is supposed to take 2 to 3 days to process - we are on day 4 - request isn't processed - no telling what lie they will spew today as to why they can't do their jobs - been nothing but a nightmare since my company switched from Nationwide to this clown show - I absolutely miss Nationwide- they were professional and did not play games with my money like this bunch.

I have a retirement account through them, and I need to roll it over into an account with Fidelity. They have made it as difficult as possible. I can’t do it over the phone, they made me go online and fill it out myself. I had someone on the phone with John Hancock tell me what to put in all the boxes, and yet my previous employer called me today to say the paperwork is wrong. So I will have to probably start all over. Meanwhile I need access to some of these funds for debt consolidation very badly, and all I can do is look at them until I get them rolled over to fidelity because since the company that sponsored my John Hancock account closed I can no longer take a load against it through John Hancock. However if I can’t gain access get the funds into my Fidelity account I can get 20 grand out in less than a week and pay it back to myself over time. I would say John Hancock has unacceptably bad customer service for a company that handles people’s money. When I call to get my life saving rolled over into a new institution I shouldn’t have to deal with rude, non English speakers, who then give me the wrong instructions and cause me to have to start the process all over again. It’s sickening how tightly your company is holding onto my money, if I had more, I’d absolutely sue you guys for the emotional inconvenience of this whole situation.

OMG. I wish i could give them a zero rating. Or negative 10. I bought their long term care insurance through my employer 10 years ago, and the employer (the largest employer in NY State) stopped using them. And for good reason. They ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT PAY for reasonable claims. Their process is unnavigable, the delays (up to 3 months!) are intentional, and their tools are useless. However, when I wrote to the State insurance Commissioner, they reversed their negative decision INSTANTLY, so they know they are liars and cheaters. I have been a senior healthcare executive and MD for 40 years. This is unconscionable.
