In my opinion I think jamplay is mostly great. But I'm an older learner (62 pushing 63) and I wish the lessons were broken up into smaller chunks so I could feel like I was making progress. Maybe one of the electric guitar instructures could do a kids lesson set like acoustics. And I wish all the instructures were as easy to ask questions and get answers back to us as some instructures do.

I have taught guitar for over 20 years and had been looking for a quality collection of videos to expand my musical horizons when I stumbled upon Jamplay. Of course I don't like all of it, but overall the best I've seen so far.

I like the site but a couple of things that I would change are.1 tab on screen with the lessons 2 more songs,there is only 1 song from metallic no ozzy or Iron Maiden.other than that I like the site but I haven't spent too much time with it because I have just joined.

Jamplay looks really good and I am excited to "get help" from it. My progress since starting to play for the first time at the age of 59, which was three years ago, has slowed down to a crawl. I need help and so far it looks like Jamplay may be the answer; time will tell. I am spending a good amount of time on it and look forward to discovering all the nuances of what it offers.

Initially I was unimpressed with Jamplay after using JustinGuitar, in terms of lack of teacher charisma (how to make learning dull) and teaching ability. However after exploring some more I came across some star teachers; Mark Lincoln and Lisa Pursell are two I've used. I would also say that their classification of beginners course can be inaccurate, after 8 months of dedicated playing the beginners courses can become challenging very quickly. I would hate to be in a first month for some of this stuff. Bottom line, at first I wasn't happy (I took a one month membership to try), however after identifying some better teachers and becoming more acclimatised to the JamPlay platform, I've now taken a twelve month membership.

Got a free intro to the site so I gave it a try. Looked like it would be a good source to learn new techniques, so I signed up. Way cheaper than taking individual lessons and I can use it 24/7 without having to schedule a class. I can take a lesson over and over if I have trouble or if I just want a refresher. The site seems a little weighted toward metal music, but there are other genres represented for lessons. The songs area has more metal than any other kind. Guess that's what people want. Little awkward trying to maneuver around some of the specifics, but for the most part it suits my needs. Some of the instructors spend too much time off topic. I guess I want to get down to business and not have to sit through 5 minutes of them playing before they begin. Sorry, but I didn't come here to listen to someone play a song. I came to increase my own ability and knowledge. If I wanted a concert I'll go to You Tube or buy a ticket. Chord library is handy and a good tool. Don't like how the scale library works. Since I just started, this may not be the most accurate rating or evaluation, but this is how I view the site as it relates to my needs.

Only issue I'm having now is it isn't very intuitive how you save where you are in each lesson. I finally found the bookmark yesterday and now today it's not there?? Plus what's up with giving yourself the percentage of complete? I would think your system could automatically calculate the percentage based on how much of the video you actually watched...and then automatically save the point where you stop for when you return to the lesson. Every time I try to go back I end up at the beginning. Maybe I'm not doing it correctly, but again I say not very intuitive...

So much variety - so much better than learning from a book and so much more flexible than an in-person instructor...
