I'm currently in 11th grade and had to use it a lot in the past and every time I had to do it whether that be for english as an assignment for my class or an assessment, and the same exact thing for math. This took place all throughout middle school and my past 2 years of highschool, currently we don't use IXL since their contract ran out, and I'm so grateful for that. Throughout the years of doing IXL for homework, it has put so much mental strain on me since I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and doing IXL did not help, I've had panic attacks due to it and also mental breakdowns due to being so close to completing my IXL and getting a singular answer wrong and having to do another 7 questions just to get back to where I was. Majority of the time that I spent on IXL was me just using AI or Google or some other tool to cheat and just be done with IXL since it was pure torture for me. Another thing that made me feel shitty was the fact that we had assessments that would base our answers off of our reading comprehension so if we got a score that was below grade average it makes you feel stupid for not being at grade standard even if you're doing fine in English class as a grade. If you're a teacher, staff member, or someone that works for any type of school board, or even a parent, don't make your students/children go through IXL, its not worth the stress, anxiety, and even possibly depression they'll have to go through.

Ixl is designed to be a learning platform but lover to give out bullshit or just blatantly wrong answers. I would rather spend a day in hell than an hour on ixl.

I wish I could give this 0 stars but I can't. I am a victim of this torture though school where you get to see your score go up thinking I'm good at this I'll get 100 but then 1 tiny mistake and it's all gone this is pure TORTURE!

First of all, the ‘Smartscore’ system is absolutely annoying and almost made me break my Chromebook. This was a few weeks ago, but I distinctly remember getting stuck in a loop where I would get to ~75, then get one question wrong and get sent back to 63. I would then answer 2 questions, get back to the EXACT same number, and for SOME reason, the question would suddenly ramp up in difficulty, which then made me go back down. As a 7th grader who has ADHD, I literally grabbed the top lid part and shook it with all my might before throwing it shut. Second, they blatantly lie to you. ‘We address the emotional side of learning?’ The only emotions I’m feeling is anger and depression. And, despite them literally saying otherwise on their website, they sell your data. So then saying ‘We never do anything because it profits us’ is a lie I guess. Thankfully, my teachers never assigned it for homework or as a grade (for now), but I’ve still had to do it at the beginning of class every day this year in math. Thankfully thankfully, I’ve never used it in ELA, so I’ve never got to see that side of the site. TL;DR, do NOT use this scummy website.
