I was attracted to this site from adverts disguised as a news article. I decided to do a little digging before committing any of my money. Thankfully I found a good article article before commitment. The article in question referred to some test buys that had been made and summarised the experience. It wasn't good, and it confirms that it's nothing short of a scam. I urge others to search for an article titled "REVEALED: HOW MADBID BUYERS CAN END UP PAYING TWICE THE PRICE" This is a great factual article by a leading national newspaper, by the way and a not a rumour. You can read the full details on line. I notice now a lot of positive reviews have suddenly appeared mostly foreign ......Hmm make up your own mind on the authenticity of these!!!

My husband died of a brain tumour. In the last few days of his life he lost some cognitive functions - especially inhibitions. My husband was not gambling man but he became uncharacteristically fascinated with mad bid. In two days just before his death and unbeknown to me, my husband gambled several hundred pounds with madbid . I did not realise what he was doing until shortly after his death a few days later when the bills came in from the credit card company. It is virtually impossible to demonstrate he wasn't of sound mind at the time of his death and I had to pay the credit card bill. These sites are immoral and this situation caused me and my children additional hardship and stress at a time when we could ill afford it. I never challenged Madbid because I was heartbroken over my loss and I couldn't face confrontation. My husband was not in control of his faculties and there is nothing apparently in place to protect vulnerable people from these bidding sites. Updated two weeks after Madbid posted a reply. I contacted them via the email address they provided and via another address I found on the internet. I never had a response. Not really surprising. Although they mentioned the information I gave them was terrible - insisting that such a review achieves nothing, in fact contacting them directly also achieves nothing. Caveat emptor.

I spent a good chunk on money on this website but whenever I tried to bid on something I'd get outbidded or the item would magically become out of stock. Just utterly pointless. A scam that pretends to be legit.

I bought some credits for 50€ and when I was looking there was nothing I wanted. so I decided not to bid and wait until someting I'ld like passes by. When I logged in after two days I saw that all my credits were gone. Lesson learned :/

Once you pay to purchase your bids you find that they disappear very quickly and you are left in the position of having to buy more bids or cut your losses. I have noticed over the last few months that the standard of the auction products has dropped considerably with some of the big name products (e.g. iPhones) being "sold out". I am now in the position of having credit to buy a product from the sight outright but there is nothing on there now that I want. If I don't spend my credit by next month it will be "expire" and they will keep my money with me having nothing to show from it!

Please stay away from this website . it money stealing concept fake reviews and fake websites with bbc logo . I have already forwarded those fake links of pages to bbc and waiting for their reply . Also informed to trading standard and post will be available on i have already reported to actionfraud about this . Please read this before going to this website. the guadian website reviews as well about this website . They should be banned from running this type of website . Its a open scam system . 99% reviews are against . shut down this company ..

I’ve also had £49.99 taken out of my PayPal account. I not used any bids,and I close account a waiting to full refund to my paypal .I write emails and Madbid not reply, and not refund my £49.99 to paypal.

I followed a link from an online newspaper out of curiosity (click bait) and it linked to an advertorial disguised as an independent review. I was convinced that this was an eBay type site which sold excess warehouse stock. The sign up screen doesn't let you see how the site actually works and gets you to commit to a £49.99 or £99.99 payment first. Once you are in, you discover that bidding times are fixed e.g. 7pm and only a few items are on offer. Typically a vacuum cleaner. You also discover that your money has just bought 'bidding tokens' and is no longer available as cash. The only thing you can bid for on the fly are more 'bidding tokens'. This is where you may first realise the nature of the beast. If you bid for the extra tokens alongside someone else, you will note that your own token balance goes down quite quickly. If you win, you cannot pay for these extra tokens with your own tokens but must give more real cash from your credit card. If you bid on a real item like the occasional iPhone on offer, your bidding tokens will dissappear very quickly as everyone thinks they are getting a bargain even as they push up the bidding price by 5p or so each time. Eventually the winning bidder may get the phone for a small discount but will have used up all their tokens. It's like putting money in a slot machine. Except that the casino has already taken your money before you started playing. The company contacts unsuccessful bidders and offers them another phone 'at a discount' which combined with what they spent on the slot machine is much more than what they would have paid for it on Amazon or eBay. The Site is a scam not because of their business model - which is essentially an unregulated casino - but because of the way they market it. A great deal of dishonesty is involved..covered of course by their small print. At the very bottom of the 'independent review' link are the words 'This is an advertorial' in small letters. Yes, as some one else remarked...very bad people. I was able to reverse my payment because I had used Paypal. Well done Paypal for protecting me.
