You can’t ever contact an human to help you. The pay is low and they change 5% of your check if you want to get paid in a timely manner. I worked a short shift for 4 hours and I waited over 10 days to get paid. Then they blame the bank. I do not recomend this app. Very disappointed.

I’ve completed nearly 800 gigs over several years with Instawork, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had. This was my first time ever attempting to use my accrued sick hours. After hundreds of completed gigs and years on the platform, I tried to use sick leave for a legitimate illness—something protected under California state law. Despite giving proper notice, the app repeatedly failed to process it and marked it as ineligible. I made five separate attempts through the app and support chat. Every time, I got the same result: extremely long wait times (over 22 hours at one point), and when a live agent finally responded, they did nothing to resolve the issue and simply closed the chat without allowing a response. There is no efficient way to reach a real person, and it feels nearly impossible to get in contact with anyone who can actually fix a problem. As a direct result of this system failure, my account was suspended. This raises serious concerns about compliance with California labor laws regarding paid sick leave. Workers should not be penalized for attempting to use legally earned sick hours—especially when it’s their first time and the platform’s system is malfunctioning. The entire experience felt like a broken system. I have everything documented from start to finish. I would strongly advise others to think twice before relying on this platform.

I had a very good team thankfully but sadly I felt lied to, when I took the shift I specifically booked because it stated in the description that it was specifically for the rooftops and since I had worked there last year it was the shift and area I wanted to work. I think is a bit unfair and unprofessional. I really enjoy working with instawork since I have since last year but I feel this details should be taken into consideration.

Do not use Instawork. My account was suspended for a no show and I worked the shift. There was a pending review for the payment but Instawork clocked me in early and expected the company to pay for it. The very next day it said my account was suspended for a no show and hours earlier the payment was under review for payment. I actually took pictures when I arrived the time the app said I arrived, the timesheet and a picture of the event. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY Nikki Bland

Instawork works fine as long as you report to work on time and don’t have to cancel your shifts due to life events or scheduling conflicts with a main/FT job. Recently, I’ve had to cancel 3 shifts-1 for illness and 2 for my main job. Each and every time I report to work the gig after these events, suddenly they can’t validate my hours nor my attendance via the app when I have pictures from the app itself confirming my arrival and departure, plus clock in and out times. The app the day after is “glitchy” and won’t accept the codes properly. I literally had the lead person at my side while doing it and the app was doing the most. I can guarantee if I work this same gig next week, I’ll have no issues with the app and will be paid promptly. Just be wary…Instawork will punish you for missing gigs by withholding payment for gigs you do afterwards for as long as they can even if you have proof from their app you did them. Very frustrating to work for something and then have it withheld 7-10 days because you cancelled a gig.
