Instant nonprofit setup, paperwork purgatory
In my experience, InstantNonprofit sold me the gospel of “instant” setup, but the miracle ended at incorporation. The harder part, the 501(c)(3) exemption process, still involved IRS delays, follow-up, and more direct effort than I expected from the way the service was marketed. When issues came up, I was directed to contact the IRS myself, which was exactly the kind of process help I believed I had paid for. I expected an end-to-end guide through nonprofit setup; instead, I felt like I had been handed a candle, pointed toward the bureaucratic abyss, and wished good luck. I would not recommend this service to anyone expecting a smooth or fully managed 501(c)(3) setup. Based on my experience, the marketing emphasizes speed and simplicity while the difficult part of the process remains very much yours to suffer through.

Vivek, we appreciate you sharing this - and we want to be straightforward with anyone reading. We understand the 501(c)(3) process felt more involved than expected, and we take that seriously. But the record here is worth sharing: our team completed Articles of Incorporation, secured your EIN, submitted your 1023-EZ application, and when the IRS issued a Request for Additional Information, we drafted and prepared your full RFI response - which you confirmed was signed and submitted to the IRS. That's not handing someone a candle. That's substantive, expert guidance through every stage we're permitted to support. Here's the part that often surprises founders: once a 501(c)(3) application is under active federal review, the IRS requires certain communications to come directly from an authorized officer - not a filing service, not an attorney, not anyone acting on your behalf. That's IRS protocol, not a gap in our service. We provided the tracking information, the determination officer's contact details, and continued advising you throughout. We also want to be transparent: after the RFI response was submitted in April 2025, there was no follow-up contact for approximately one year. We have no formal IRS denial letter on file for this case. The IRS process may still be open. 501(c)(3) recognition is a federal process with a federal timeline - and we're always honest about that. Our job is to remove every obstacle we can, prepare every document correctly, and guide founders as far as we're able. We've done that for thousands of missions just like yours. If you'd like help closing this out properly, our offer of complimentary dissolution and close-out support still stands.
