Instant Car Fix is a privately held company based in the DMV area. The company provides mobile car repair and maintenance services to car owners at their location (home or office or any other location of choice). The company currently operates in DC, MD and VA and is rapidly expanding to other cities too.We realized that most auto repair shops and dealerships try to upsell their services and recommend services which are not needed. Most of the times, a simple car service trip turns into an estimate worth thousands of dollars. The cheap upsell tactics consistently instills fear into customer’s mind and most people do not like walking into an auto repair shop.A recent survey by AAA shows some staggering statistics. Two out of three auto drivers do not trust auto repair shops. An incredible 76 percent of those surveyed by AAA said they were recommended to buy unnecessary services.73 percent said they were overcharged, and63 percent said they had negative past experiences.Nearly half (49 percent) said that they were concerned that work won’t be done correctly.Instant Car Fix was created to solve this problem. Our goal is to provide honest quotes with quality service at the convenience of your doorsteps. We made a company you can trust, that never upsells, and believes customers should decide what services they need for their car. Our certified mechanics have years of experience working at dealerships and repair shops.Best part – we come to you! We repair cars at location of your choice so that you don’t have to walk into an auto repair shop ever again. At Instant Car Fix, we MAKE LIFE SIMPLE!

I would not recommend this company unless you are able to catch the call center/mechanic on a good day, which is extremely rare. I originally set an appointment at the end of May to replace a timing cover on my A3. The appointment was changed 3 times due to lack of communication on their end, personal issue for the mechanic, and weather. When I was finally able to get the mechanic out, he realized a screw was threaded and needed to be replaced. The company wanted to charge me $200 for a less than $10 screw. I refused. The company ordered the screwed and offered to come out the following week. I said I can’t do that due to being on military leave for a couple weeks and will be out of town. I was able to come to an agreement with Matthew and his supervisor Isaac that I will call once I was back in town, the screw will be ordered, and the mechanic will come back to finish the job at no extra charge.
I have been calling for weeks to get the follow up job scheduled. I get told I have to talk to the “supervisor” or management then get forward to a voicemail with no call back. I have tried to speak directly to Isaac and continuously get the run-around. My car has been sitting for months unable to run. Unfortunately, Matthew no longer works there but he has been the best part of my experience with this company.

Instant Car Fix is a scam
My car was leaking water, and not wanting to pay tow charges, I decided to try Instant Car Fix. That turned out to be a big mistake. The mechanic came, told me what was wrong, and said he’d be back the next day—but I didn’t see him for three days. He fixed the manifold gasket, a pipe, and did a coolant flush. The car was still leaking, and he then said I needed a water pump. He told me the company would charge another $500 to replace it, on top of the $2,000 I had already paid, but offered to do it for $100. Again, he said he’d be back, but I never saw him again. I ended up paying the tow charge to Firestone, where they had to redo everything Instant Car Fix had done. My biggest issue is that, as a mechanic, he should have known to check the water pump first. And for some mysterious reason, my gas pedal was disconnected, which made no sense, since it has nothing to do with the water leak.
I will never use Instant Car Fix or any other mobile mechanic. It was an expensive lesson so take it from me, do not trust them. They are overpriced and do not complete the work. Scam!

Scammers
Scammers! STAYAWAY!!!! Seem nice but real snakes 🐍 This company should be investigated for the conduct they allow. A mechanic marked my vehicle as repaired and safe to drive after it was damaged by contaminated fuel. Yet, as soon as the mechanic left, the car wouldn’t start again.
No customer should have to pay for a service that doesn’t resolve the problem or be left stranded after being told their vehicle is fixed. Companies must be held accountable for the quality of the work performed by the contractors they send.
This experience has been frustrating, disappointing, and unacceptable. Consumers deserve honesty, competent repairs, and accountability not false assurances that leave them in an even worse situation.

NEGATIVE FIVE STARS
NEGATIVE FIVE STARS: –★★★★★
ZERO STARS WOULD STILL BE TOO GENEROUS.
I scheduled Instant Car Fix to complete a timing-belt-kit replacement on my 2008 Volvo C70 2.5T. The company placed an authorization hold of nearly $1,000 and confirmed the service.
The appointment was originally scheduled for Wednesday.
The day before, Instant Car Fix asked to move it to Thursday. I agreed.
On Thursday, they asked to move it again to Saturday, stating in writing:
«“We do have a special mech that can come out to do the job on Saturday.”»
I specifically asked whether this mechanic had Volvo white-block timing and CVVT experience.
Saturday was my granddaughter’s first birthday party. I rearranged my family plans so I could meet the mechanic, get him started, and then attend the party.
Instant Car Fix confirmed:
«“Mechanic is scheduled to arrive today between 11 AM - 04 PM.”»
No mechanic arrived.
I waited for hours, called, and left a message. At approximately 3:45 PM, the company finally called and said the mechanic had been in an accident. They asked to reschedule the job yet again for Sunday.
Because the company already had a substantial authorization hold connected to the job and I still needed the work completed, I reluctantly agreed.
Then, roughly two hours before Sunday’s appointment, Instant Car Fix informed me that it did not have a mechanic available who could perform the timing-belt job.
The company later attempted to justify the cancellation by saying:
«“The reason we cancelled the order is because the car is already torn apart and worked on.”»
That information had been disclosed before the appointment was accepted. They knew the condition of the vehicle when they advertised the service, accepted the order, scheduled the repair, rescheduled it repeatedly, and claimed they had a Volvo-qualified mechanic.
The company then sent me the following messages:
«“Lol. You clearly messed up the car and not capable to do the job.”»
«“But yes, please proceed with messing up with your vehicle.”»
«“If you can handle the truth, we cannot help you with it.”»
«“Lol. Dont waste your time in messaging us. Spend that time in fixing your vehicle.”»
«“Your reviews dont mean much to us or anyone else.”»
«“Create fake google profiles so that you can add more reviews since you have so much time on your hand.”»
Those are not paraphrases. Those are statements the company sent directly to a customer after failing to provide the scheduled service.
To summarize, Instant Car Fix:
- Advertised timing-belt replacement.
- Accepted the job knowing the vehicle’s condition.
- Placed a nearly $1,000 authorization hold.
- Rescheduled the appointment three times.
- Claimed a Volvo-qualified mechanic would perform the work.
- Confirmed an 11 AM–4 PM arrival window.
- Failed to appear.
- Failed to provide timely communication.
- Ultimately admitted it could not provide the mechanic promised.
- Then mocked and insulted the customer who complained.
The hold was eventually released, but releasing money for work never performed does not erase the repeated scheduling failures, no-show, lost family time, misleading assurances, and abusive customer-service messages.
I would not trust Instant Car Fix with my Volvo—or any vehicle.
Consumers deserve honest scheduling, qualified technicians, truthful communication, and basic professional respect.
BEWARE.

⭐ 1-Star Review — Poor Communication, Inconsistent Service, and No Resolution
Our experience with this company was extremely disappointing, and I feel it’s important for others to understand how their service model works. This organization does not employ mechanics. They act as an aggregator, subcontracting independent technicians. Because of this, the quality of service you receive is entirely dependent on whichever mechanic they happen to send.
We contacted them to fix a windshield washer pump on our daughter’s Ford Escape. The first mechanic arrived, performed only a brief visual check, and declared the pump needed replacement. He charged a $158 diagnostic fee and quoted $250 for the repair. After payment, he admitted he did not know how to fix the issue.
For the next seven days, we attempted to reach the company with no response. On day eight, they finally stated they could not find a qualified mechanic in our area—despite advertising coverage in all 50 states.
A second mechanic eventually arrived. He repeated the same minimal assessment and claimed the pump needed replacement again—this time at double the original cost. When asked how the pump could be faulty if it had supposedly been replaced days earlier, he had no explanation.
After the second visit, the vehicle would not start at all. Attempts to contact the company again were routed to a call center with no follow‑up.
Key Issues Noted:
No meaningful diagnosis from either mechanic
Conflicting information and inconsistent pricing
Eight days of delayed or nonexistent communication
Vehicle left in worse condition than before
No accountability or resolution
While some positive reviews exist, they reflect the work of individual subcontracted mechanics—not the company itself. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this organization. The quality of service feels unpredictable, and communication was severely lacking.
Consumers should proceed with caution.

This was the worst experience that I…
This was the worst experience that I have ever had with a mechanic in my life. The mechanic came to my house to my fix my alternator. While working on my car to fix my alternator he punctured my radiator and the car is no longer driveable. Instantcarfix is telling me that it is not their fault and will not try to remedy the situation after ignoring my phone calls and lying to me for 2 days. Stay away!

Lousy service. No show
I scheduled appointment to have a serpentine
belt replaced. Was told the mechanic would arrive on a Thursday between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm never showed. Called and they rescheduled for the next day same time frame. Once again never showed. Reschedule for Saturday and again they never showed or called. Finally had enough BS of no cal no show and cancel completely. Because I cancel they turned around and charged me $110.00 for the cancellation. The company are nothing more than rip off artists.

Horrible service
Jean the mechanic showed on time without the part that I specifically mentioned that my Brake Pedal Position Sensor - is broken and needs replacement. Didn’t even want to check the car. After my insistence, he got under the car and removed the sensor in the process he broke the screw, which holds the part. He promised that he will be back to replace the sensor if I buy it. He left me his phone number, (475) 444-9033 but never got back to me despite the calls and text messages.
