Disappointed
Wrote a review on Inkedibles site. No response. Got an email from TrustPilot asking me to review the company and I gave them 2 stars due to issues I am having with printing on their chocolate transfer sheets, the sheets are scraping all the way down and ruining the image as it prints and the fact that they hadn't responded to my initial email. I got a response from the TrustPilot and then received the same exact email response copied and pasted after the fact from the Inkedibles customer support (so it seems they get these review but don't really respond to the ones directly from their site). They gave me some generic response regarding the issue I was having and said that since they didn't know what printer I was using they could not be more specific (even though I provided all the printer info in the initial email I sent). I tried to troubleshoot based on their recommendations and still had the same issue of the papers scraping all the way down when I printed (keep in mind, I have used other sheets and not had this issue). So I emailed them again on September 4 and still have yet to receive a response from them. In fact I specifically told them I have an order of 200 cookies that I needed to make and it was urgent that someone respond and still nothing (Fortunately I was able to order from another site and receive the sheets in time for my order). I like these sheets and would like to be able to utilize them because I get more vibrant colors and images from these sheets than the other sheets I use, however I am wasting a good portion of these sheets when they are scraping and having to spend time rearranging my images just to get the proper printables to come out correctly. I went with this product because the reviews for the company and product were positive but I am having the complete opposite experience with ever thing I have used from them thus far. My latest email to them also addressed some issues I have with their refill inks. Their directions are very minimal and I wasted a good amount of ink trying to figure it out myself...fortunately for youtube I was able to fix the issue and fill my ink, but the directions on filling should be much more detailed. Below is my response that I have yet to have addressed from the company; I am unable to find anything that is making a difference. I found a "prevent abrasion" setting in the printer preferences that I tried and that did nothing to help, it is still shredding the cocoa butter on the transfer sheet. I also had some issues with your refill instructions (or lack of). I refilled my inks today with the refill ink I just ordered from you guys and nothing indicated that I should cover the wick area along the bottom of the cartridge to prevent ink from spilling out. I followed the (very basic) directions that were on the sticker attached on the bag that contained my refill inks and as I filled the cartridge, the ink came pouring out of the wick area and all over my table. I wasted a good amount of ink and made a huge mess. I went online to see if I could find any instructions and came up with a youtube video that showed the cartridges being placed back into the orange trays they are shipped with (that you remove before installing them) to prevent the leaking, which would have been extremely helpful to know but since I was not instructed to keep them when I bought the ink from you guys, I did not have them anymore, but at least now I knew that if I covered the bottom of the wick area I could prevent the ink from leaking out all over the place - at least until I have to put it in the printer, which is slightly challenging without getting ink everywhere. I also went on your website to troubleshoot the ink refill process and at least found slightly better instruction on there that should have been provided with the refill inks (I should not have to go online to get better direction from your site than I get along with the purchased refill ink). I am having a very frustrating experience with this company so far and tried to call customer service but it seems your support is only available Monday through Friday (and I imagine with the labor day weekend, I will not be able to speak to someone until at least Tuesday - which presents a big problem for me as I have a cookie order of 200 cookies that I need to have done BY Friday). I really want to make it work because I like the quality of print I get from the ink and the portion of the transfer sheet that is not destroyed and unusable. However, it is a complete waste of my time and money if I can not come up with a solution to the tearing issue I am experiencing. I have a Canon MG6620, I am not sure if you know of any specific settings to help prevent this issue but I would appreciate any feedback to help make your transfer sheets functional. Thank you in advance. Tiffany Diorio
Response from InkediblesSep 17, 2015
Hi again Tiffany, I am sorry that you were not able to adjust the pressure of your rollers on the printer you are using to stop the scratching with our chocolate transfer sheets. Our chocolate transfer sheets as you know are very good but very sensitive. They can easily scratch or melt due to the very high quality of pure cocoa butter used and the special powered coating. It is the combination of these that gives a better print quality to your chocolate transfers than other sheets can. Your edible ink absorbs better and transfers better onto your tempered chocolate. When I responded to you on September 4th, I was unaware that you were using the Canon MG6620. We as a company, and I personally, prefer Canon printers for use with our chocolate transfer sheets as they feed the sheets much better than other makes of printers and the quality of color and definition in the images is outstanding. But, unfortunately, we have noticed that the 6620 has some issues with the rollers, not only for transfer sheets, but some are also creating issues with certain types of frosting sheets as well (not all but some) so for this reason, we have discontinued selling this model of printer, but we do continue to sell several other models of Canon printers that work very well with all of our sheets. I have personally spoken with Canon about the roller problem with these printers, and unfortunately they are aware of the roller flaw with this model but it is not an issue for which they take responsibility since these printers are designed to print on regular printer or photo paper. This roller issue does not occur with regular printer paper or their photo paper (which they recommend). Chocolate transfer sheets and frosting sheets are thicker and have a higher poundage weight than printer paper and most photo paper. If you purchased your printer through InkEdibles, we will happily send you a replacement of a more cooperative Canon model that will work well with our chocolate transfer sheets and also give you the same high quality color and image print. Addressing your other concern about the instructions for the refill kit, the advisement to replace the cartridge clip or plug the sponge opening (several folded layers of paper towel held in place with slight pressure works well) to prevent flow through was missing from a print of labels and has since been corrected. I am sorry you seem to have received a kit with this information missing. I have personally checked and all others kits with this error have been removed from our inventory. I am sending you our InkEdibles 15ml Convenient Twist and Pour refill pack for Canon Edible Ink Cartridges as a way of letting you know that we sincerely appreciate the frustration you have faced and to replace the ink that may have been wasted from this error. These refill kits are so very easy to use. Also, we will be including a small gift from InkEdibles for you with this. I sincerely am sorry that you have faced delays and could not find a solution to your roller pressure problem with our sheets. I hope that your cookie business THRIVES and that we are able to supply you with, at least some, of your edible printing supplies in the future. Please feel free to contact me directly at through our website if I can help you in any way. Thank you. Best wishes, Maria
