Hired them to help for my college application. It turned out to be a huge and expensive mistake. Their main goal was to throw you into a "safe" school as soon as possible. Their role was very limited sometimes detrimental. Never again!

I paid InGenius Prep to help my son with the college admission process. He started working with InGenius in June, prior to his senior year. They helped him make his college list. They helped him apply to 5 colleges. He was denied at all 5 colleges (0/5). The stats on their website are false. The only thing of value they did was to edit his Common App personal essay. I could have hired someone specifically for that purpose for much less. It was a complete waste of money. I should have just stayed with the school counselor. He had better outcomes. Disappointed (Updated) the response states that he was accepted into 2 of the 5 schools InGenius Prep helped him with, which is incorrect. He was accepted into 0 of the 5 InGenius helped him with. The only 2 schools he was accepted into were schools he applied to without InGenius' help and they are schools that essentially accept all students from his high school. I do not appreciate the deception. If you are going to reply to my review, please include accurate information.

I recently met a former ingenious prep employee and realized that I should go back and put a more rational closure to this incidence so that whoever saw this review can have more leverages before preceding their service. I also felt that the amount of refund I received was not fair as I got into zero grad program after dealing with all the issues. My time, mental effort wasted deserved way more. I was really just wanting to putting an end to the whole situation. If you are choosing their service, you need to be aware of the following: 1. Your are not only paying for the expertise and experience of their mentors. You are also paying for the operational cost of this whole company. 2. You will be forced to follow all the rules, such as signing contracts to forfeit your right to demand refund if you are applying to school that they considered are out of your league based on your GPA. 3. The mentors don’t get pay for what they deserve. If you are lucky you will meet a responsible mentors that will be supportive and caring throughout the whole process despite their low compensation. If not, you are screwed like me. 4. Have low expectations for the “progress coordinator”. They usually have very limited knowledge about the whole application process. They know the“process” by the book, but don’t expect them have the proper experience and communicate skill to actually coordinate and delegate the tasks. The existence of this role is to slowdown your goal not expedite. They really didn’t do much besides stayed entitled under their title. Lastly, best of luck to everyone that’s going thru the application process. Trust your gut! Don’t buy into the glorified marketing scam companies sell to you. Choose wisely not mindlessly.

I’ve known one of the founders of Ingenious Prep for many years. And while her accomplishments— personal, educational, and professional — are all incredible, I have been nervous about college counseling because of the price and efficacy. How much could it really move the needle? However, after a few conversations with potential counselors at Ingenious, all who were former admissions officers, I decided to give it a shot. I thought if anyone knew how to help ensure my daughter put her best foot forward to secure a spot at a top university, it would be someone who understood the process from the inside. The guidance my daughter received on developing a unique through-line and choosing which school to apply Early Decision to, coupled with the strict schedule she was kept on, resulted in a relatively stress-free experience and successful outcome. My only complaint is that there is no refund for services paid for but not used: we purchased a five application package, and my daughter got into the first school she applied to, so technically I have a credit for help on four other applications! I do have a rising Junior … who will use Ingenious regardless. STRONGLY RECOMMEND FOR TOP ACADEMIC UNIVERSITIES ESPECIALLY.

Fit is very important and Abby and Michel were the perfect fit for our daughter. Our daughter began working with them the summer before senior year and their guidance and coaching allowed us as parents to just be the supportive parents. I really appreciated how encouraging and patient they were working with a busy student whose time and attention were always divided in many areas, leaving very little time for college applications. The reason it's 4 stars and not 5 is because my daughter did not utilize all of the resources offered so can't fully assess, and our daughter's graduate coach was not as available (due to being ill so no blame there). The results were mixed and there were disappointments along the way but Abby and Michel were there with positive affirmation and ready to help with practical next steps such as guidance with getting off a waitlist, if needed. In the end, she got into a school she identified as one of her top 3 at the start of the process and identified as her top school by the end and we couldn't be more excited for her future. In short, it was a great investment and am happy to have met such kind, warm, and knowledgeable people like Jillian, Abby, and Michel.

The team at Ingenius is very professional. We have an amazing FOA and graduate counselor. They are incredibly knowledgeable with amazing cheerful personalities. Our FOA has been a very supportive person throughout this whole process, her knowledge and guidance provide us a lot of insight into college application. Our graduate counselor is a very hardworking person, we always found her reviewing my son's essay in the middle of the night. Her feedback is always constructive. Our enrollment and communication counselor is always on top of things and keeps us updated on everything we need periodically. We couldn't have done it without them.

My daughter and I were very happy with the advice my daughter received from her counselors. They met at regular weekly intervals and kept her on a tight schedule. They went through nearly 8 drafts for each of her essays until it sounded cohesive. They were able to construct a detailed application persona that I feel presented her strengths and goals clearly on her application. My daughter credits her counselors in helping her get into her top choice college.

My experience with InGenius Prep was exceptional. The counselors are all well-experienced, and I received very prompt feedback on the writing prompts. I find it especially helpful to hear from the perspective of a former admissions officer. I am very satisfied with my graduate admissions results this year.
