Beware of Indriver in the Dominican Republic
Beware of Indriver in the Dominican Republic. There are almost only male drivers and as a female tourist it is very uncomfortable. There is no real way to complain, the chat is just shut down by Indriver. All drivers say they are at the meeting point though they are still 2-5 minutes away. You then have to look for the driver yourself, otherwise you get a bad rating. One driver parked in the wrong place and when he saw me coming in the rear view mirror, he started to drive away. I walked faster behind him, he stopped, I walked normally, he accelerated again. I then stopped, surprised, and he just drove off. I wrote him via chat: "I come and you drive away?" and he answered: "Yes." Other drivers try to use the ride as a "gringa catch" and if you don't want to talk, you get a bad rating. Some brake unnecessarily sharply and drag the curb, others contact you on Whatsapp and snap at you "respond". Many accept the price and then cancel it to put you under time pressure and then get double of the recommended price. Use Uber instead, it's safer. Indriver doesn't care what their drivers do and customers have no rights in this country with the app.
