Helpful Accountability and Confidence Building for Step 1 Studying
At the start of my dedicated study period, it quickly became clear that doing medical school over Zoom during COVID had left numerous gaps in my knowledge. In my first month of studying for Step 1, I failed my first 3 NBME practice exams. Over the next month, I improved above passing but my results remained inconsistent. If a UW block or practice exam asked me the right questions, I would do fine. But if asked the wrong questions, I was vulnerable to barely passing. Ultimately, I changed my Step 1 timeline so that I could better prepare for the exam - ironing out the inconsistencies and building my confidence. That's where Rahul came in. I had already been using a lot of his free online videos and webinars and knew that I liked his teaching style. Working with Rahul 1:1 provided me with the accountability and encouragement I needed to keep studying in the final stretch of my extended Step 1 journey. Rahul's integrated teaching style and focus on test-taking strategies helped me attain more consistent results and, in the weeks leading up to my exam date, I finally experienced the exponential score curve that everyone talks about! On test day, I was at peace with my preparation and confident that I would pass - IMO the 2 biggest keys to succeeding on the actual exam! I don't think I would have arrived at that point without Rahul's guidance. In the end, my Step score exceeded all my practice exams and landed squarely within the target range I had set as a goal before the harsh reality of failing multiple practice exams had me lowering my expectations! I can't thank Rahul enough for the critical role he played in helping me to achieve my goals! If you are struggling with the style of questions and content integration that the USMLE demands, I highly recommend Hyguru as a resource. Best of luck in your Step 1 journey!
