Background: I’m a US MD student who took step over the summer. and I passed :) I first purchased this because i was scoring around the mid 60s on my NBMEs and i thought this extra resource would help me get over that hump( wanted to get a 70 before taking it) and Dear God was i wrong 😭 I would not recommend this resource to anyone * ( besides one group) If you’re already using Anki, Uworld, Pathoma , bootcamp/BNB you literally do not need this one. TRUST ME. Step one historically has had a 97% pass rate way before hyguru existed and people only used Uworld first aid anki, pathoma and then board and beyond. I probably used less than 10% my issue with the videos you can tell they were just a bunch of random videos he made either from webinars he had and just compiled them together. he doesn’t really teach like boards or bootcamp. it’s just him telling you remember this or that or just reiterating first aid word for word. and if i took a shot for everytime he told me to buy his pharmacology course or another course he has within a video i would be brain dead. because why do i have to buy an additional course if i already bought the step 1 course?!?! i could go on and on but i advise you not to buy it and if you still are one of those type a paranoid med students, have one person in your group buy it and share it ( the warning about multiple IP is false) and you can see what i mean. * the only group i would recommend this for would be for an IMG who has been practicing for years. where the medicine and stuff is relevant since you’ve been practicing but you may just not remember the stupid small details like which chromosome or which disease is a AD vs AR and just need the information quickly. also should have been sus that there’s only good reviews no mediocre reviews or anything in between. the saying if it’s too good to be true doesn’t exist for no reason 🙃 there’s just no way that everyone loved this product with no complaints 😭 so maybe this comment won’t even see the light of day but if i can discourage at least one person from making my mistake i am fine with that. For full transparency, Dr. Rahul gifted me his Step 1 Pass/Fail course after I had failed Step 1. I’m so glad I used it on my retake! It was way more helpful than any other third party resource out there because it integrated the different concepts and topics so it didn’t feel like I was just learning random facts. I actually learned how everything worked together. I also found myself going back to study his tables and diagrams because they helped me organize the content in my head. Thank you Dr. Rahul!!

I was getting 40s on my NBMEs until I finally decided to buy Dr. Rahul's step 1 course and after 39% of completing it I jumped right up to the 60s! In the past for my medical school exams I used a more passive type of learning and his style of teaching forces you to think in an active recall way which substantially helped me increase my scores and pass my exam. I really cannot recommend him enough!! Will definitely be back for step 2 ck! He is also an amazing mentor/tutor and genuinely cares about his students and how they are doing, which motivates and uplifts them during USMLE preparation.

Just found out this morning that I passed Step 1! It's been quite the journey getting to this point, and passing this attempt was all or nothing for me. I utilized Rahul's P/F course as well as some private tutoring sessions with him, and both of these definitely contributed to my success. Rahul has become a great mentor and friend, and I would not have been able to overcome this hurdle without him! He consistently checked in with me, listened to my concerns, and helped me create a solid game plan leading up to my exam. He genuinely cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. I will absolutely be using his resources and working with him for my shelf exams & Step 2! I 100% recommend using HYGuru as a top resource for your exams!
