The process to close down a retirement account for a single-member business has been excruciating. I signed up for this service by the recommendation of Gusto. They will continue to debit your account for more than $100/month for 7-10 months after you request to cancel while they "wind down."
I was given the runaround and no one ever owned the closure process completely. Each time I'd make a request about stopping billing, I would be told that no more billing would take place. I finally had to put a hold on my checking account to prevent them from continuing to bill us.

Human Interest continues to charge you…
Human Interest continues to charge you for three months of more after you have left them for another 401k provider. Your customer service rep doesn’t tell you this when you cancel and instead someone else contacts you to set up an appointment a few weeks later. They auto charge your account without your permission and try to make you sign a decommission document agreeing to the terms that benefit them. Terrible experience. Avoid at all costs.

As a small business owner being taken…
As a small business owner being taken advantage of can make or break your company. Human Interest has the worst customer service we’ve ever dealt with. They have charged us now for ten months after closing the account and business. You cannot get ahold of anyone and they refer you to another department which I’m not sure exists. Untrustworthy and bad business, do yourself a favor and go with a reputable company. Their response to reviews with a sorry and please contact falls flat after almost a year. Stay away!!!

STAY AWAY!!! Zero communication, end up charging your company incorrectly, cannot fix their mistakes, wish I never started using them. Worst experience of my life trying to get them to cancel

Missing Money
My company has been using human insterst as our retirement account and everyone at my place of work had discrepencies in their balances. Several employees were missing thousands of dollars. When my complaint was put in it was dismissed. I then had to go in and audit my own account and show that over a thousand of dollars was missing. For 6 months money was being taken from my check and not included in my account. The issue was marked resolved two months ago and the money has yet to be placed back into my account. They were not responsive and I often had to check in for updates.

Absolutely Inept and Incapable
This has to be the most incapable, inept group of financial advisors and funds management people. Their absolute inability to communicate in a timely manner, provide advisors and staff that know how to process requests, and ultimately manage anyone's funds astounds me. What started as a simple Traditional IRA rollover to this company, because it's the new funds management company that our employer chose, has been ongoing for over 2 months. The initial request was submitted at the end of January. They finally scheduled a meeting with the originating financial group, where both myself, and the representative from Edward Jones, waited for over 15 minutes while they were "working" on the request. When I finally said, "What are we waiting on?", the response was "Oh.. I thought you guys were doing something". She was completely unaware of a LOI or LOA for transfer of funds, completely dumbfounded when THE EDWARD JONES ADMINISTRATOR had to EXPLAIN TO HER HOW TO DO HER JOB, and then proceeded to never follow up. They finally got me over the forms, where I signed and returned within 30 minutes, and it's been stale since. I had to reach back out again, and ask them what the status was, and they COULDN'T EVEN RETRIEVE A DOCUMENT THAT WAS UPLOADED TO THEIR PORTAL UNDER THE SAME REQUEST! I have no other words for this company, other than I trust my children managing my futures and funds, more than I trust this group of people; and they're still in grade school.
