Got a call saying interested in my car, man named Oliver with Indian accent, Dublin landline number, saying wanted to come collect car tomorrow and wife about to have a baby. Offering cash. Then insisting that we use hpiinfo website to get a report for him before he sees. Saying only the owner can do the check on the website. Directed us to the pricing plans page and wanted us to walk through them together and pay it, with a promise that they would pay it back with the sale of the car after. Kept insisting we use the website, other website checks and reports wouldn't be enough.

I placed an advertisement to sell my car on Donedeal On 10 May 2026, I received a phone call from Dublin number 01 592 25 23 from a woman claiming to be a buyer. She pressured me into purchasing a car history certificate from a specific website called HPIINFO immediately while she waited on the phone. Feeling severe pressure, I completed the purchase. The caller immediately ended the conversation once the payment went through, and I realized I had been scammed. Recognizing the fraud, I instantly froze and cancelled my bank card and called bank to report the incident and request a cancellation. Incorrect/Faulty Product: The certificate I received contained completely incorrect information, listing the wrong car manufacturer/make entirely, making it useless.

Do not use this website. Got a call from "Kevin" looking to buy my car. Seemed genuine and then began insisting I use Hpiinfo for the report. Told him I wasn't prepared to do this and the onus is on the buyer to do the check if they so wish. I eventually hung up. Got a call the following day and "Kevin" began the exact same conversation as the day previous. I reminded him that he already tried his luck with me and he hung up immediately. SCAM!

This is a scam website that is not only stealing your initial money for the purchased 'report' that does not exist but then also has your bank details and will empty your account

SCAM. (I have copied this comment, as I have exactly faced the same thing. They called and they email - this is the email they have reached out to me "oliviaharriet073@gmail") They'll call you as soon as you list your car for sale on any website and tell you they are interested in the car but will ask you for a hpiinfo report which apparently only owners can get. If you tell them to do it it give them alternative such as cartell , there like no, we want hpiinfo only. If you persist on them getting the report themselves, they will cut the call eventually
