Hostwinds is a terrible host for those who have public facing machines. If you run a game server, a website or other public-facing service, look elsewhere. Hostwinds has below-industry standard of DDOS protection, and if you get DDOS'ed, not only will your service go down even if you utilize a DDOS Protected IP (which is a whopping $25/month whereas it's included in most other service providers), but your service will be SHUT DOWN and INACCESSIBLE by your client base for 24 hours (even if you have their DDOS protection plan). My friend Darien and I both have Hostwinds services and we will be discontinuing with them. Our VPS costs us a total of almost $50/month for a basic VPS server with DDOS protection (which is only $20-$30 and included at other server hosting companies), and we still get shut out of our service for 24 hours everytime we are attacked. DDOS Protection, even if paid, is an industry standard. Hostwinds won't prevent your DDOS attack, they'll just shut you off for 24 hours even if you're paying for protection. When you e-mail their support team, they don't even spell your name right (despite your name being ON the header of the support ticket). I give them 2 stars because if you're just using them for a portfolio website or to hold your files, you'll be fine and they hosted our community for 2 years. The moment we opened our doors to the public, their true colors were shown. We have been shut out of our small business now twice in a week for 24 hours and have lost money in advertising and service.

Worst hosting and support extortion on bandwidth in 2020 0.01 per gb lol in 2020. I cancelled they charget my 30 euro a month server 120 in bandwidth over charge. Go to other providers and let them die slowly.

This a company has very poor customers service, I have cancelled my service in July but they are still charging me . I requested to my credit card company to stop payment but still they are taking money from my account. Please don’t trust their service . Thanks

They have scammed me for more than $1100 and held my money hostage! the support does nothing says, " billing depart will contact you" billing depart copies and paste messages, They causes me losses more than $2000 when their hosting when down for 10 days for me and no one helped me to get my websites up , i kept requesting 6them to help me get everything online and created several tickets! they are careless and very lazy and will scam you after you pay them. Many people have been scammed by them. All good reviews here on trust pilot are fake or the people are paid to write good reviews! stay waway from these scammers!

Am less than a week old with hostwinds, but i like there customer service. all support requests are executed with a sense of urgency. the knowledge base links shared during interaction with support team are straight to the point, no time wasted reading lengthy material. If you know what you want, they know how to get it done.

Have used Hostwinds for various services since 2012 while the services were good when up their support was never brilliant and when I cancelled in 2020 they billed me anyway and refused to accept my cancellation ticket because they secretly email you requesting email cancellation as well then they billed me anyway and closed my services down. Unfortunately my business suffered in 2019 and I cancelled the services I used through their website but they proceeded to charge me through paypal anyway, deleted my accounts and insisted I "log in" to raise a ticket to discuss the issue. Obviously this is not possible if they have deleted my account. Had to raise a dispute through paypal. Watch out for these people. Money grabbers and I will never use them again. For the sake of $200 when I have spent thousands over nearly a decade they are truly sad sad people.
