We'd been considering switching to another hosting provider for our live web and database servers, and also moving our local servers into cloud hosting. I spent a week or so checking different hosting services and found Hostwinds to be the best option, partly on cost and partly on generally excellent responses to my questions. The only issue in purchasing the first two servers was my fault; I'd forgotten I was logged in with my email, so the first purchase used it. Fortunately there is a way to change the email address of an account so I was able to correct the problem myself.

On 9/14/ I ordered a server Order Number: 1758991023. After installation it turned out the IP was blacklisted with Hotmail. I asked for new IP and they did not want to give me one. I canceled the server and got a refund and wanted to move on. Support kept updating me on the progress of whitelisting the IP. 2 days ago I got an email that the IP has been whitelisted by hotmail. I was impressed. I ordered a server again (order number 4323747496) and asked Hostwinds to assign the IP. They refused. Ok. I figured it should be fine and after installing everything it turns out that the new IP is publicly listed in a Spam database. I asked again if I could please have that fresh IP. So far I only got "not possible" as an answer.

I wanted to give Hostwinds a shot as my vps provider. I started the service and got disconnected 3 times during the first hour after setting it up. I immediately cancelled the service and asked for a refund. I DID NOT get the full refund and therefore I decided to let everyone know how they work. STAY AWAY FORM HOSTWINDS!

Hostwinds is a scam and so are the fake reviews - yes hundreds of then. Hostwinds took $160 from - I cancelled within the first hour and their policy allows for 72 hours. They will NOT refund my money. They send numerous emails that they will do so within 48 hours. Well it never happened. Just like the real reviews have stated. I have filed a compliant with PayPal and reported Hostwinds to the FTC and the BBB. Check out BBB for their ACTUAL customer reviews. It is a SCAM. Thank you Trustpilot for being legit.
