Title: Avoid Hone — Zero Accountability, Shady Billing
I had a terrible experience with Hone. I sent in two tests and waited 40 minutes to speak with a doctor. After all that, they told me the second test somehow got “messed up” and I’d have to pay for a third one — seriously?
When I demanded a refund via email, they went completely silent — no reply. Then they had the audacity to charge me again for a subscription tied to a product that was never even shipped.
They take your money, disappear when there’s an issue, and keep billing you. Total scam vibes. I do not recommend this service to anyone looking for legitimate care or customer support.
I was told one day after posting this that I would be getting a full refund plus I should be receiving an email saying that I was refunded. They apologized when they called. I am still waiting for the email and the confirmation of the refund.

Hey Eric, we've requested more info through Trustpilot about this review––please respond to that request so we can collect your contact info and look into your review.
Hone will NEVER stick a patient with a bill or charge if a doctor can't make a consult for any reason or if there's a technical hiccup. We always refund, always.
Additionally, we don't charge for redo labs, that's something Hone will always cover if needed.
If you can respond to the request for more information, I'd love to flag your case for our team and have a manager reach out to discuss and get this squared away for you ASAP!

Everything is slow and takes time 3-5…
Everything is slow and takes time 3-5 days for this, 3-5 days for that and I do just feel like a number here. Makes sense if they are used by so many.
Response from Hone HealthJul 24, 2025
You're not just a number at all, promise!!! But I do understand where you're coming from.
The biggest benefit to being with Hone is often what some consider the biggest pain point. Our onboarding is not fast and takes time.
Why is that? We take ZERO short cuts and abide by ALL regulatory and best practice guidelines set by the AUA and DEA. This means we’re extremely careful with who we treat and how we treat them. Confirmatory labs and often extra labs before starting are safety protocols that do delay things, but they assure that ALL patients are ready to safely begin treatment. This also means there's some extra review processes and approvals that need to happen during onboarding.
The good news is this experience doesn't last–––once you're over the goal line with the first order, every month moving forward is much more automatic and smooth.
I'll make sure someone from our team touches base with you, and they will make sure you're set up for success!

Ghosted after fees paid!
I contacted them over a month and a half ago, everything was moving along until I paid the membership fees and suddenly all communication stopped. I’ve received nothing from the company or answered any of my many emails. I would look elsewhere for trt treatment.

No customer service
My prescription was not filled. I contacted the company about running out testosterone and not receiving my next shipment. After waiting for days they responded with a text message saying that my provider missed a signature and that my subscription should be shipped in a couple of days. That was my last communication with the company. My prescription was never filled. I have attempted multiple times to contact the company over call, text, and email. This has been ongoing for weeks. This company's communication is insufficient and now are causing me medical problems. Do not trust your health with this company.

DON'T BOTHER
It's unfortunate that I am giving Hone a 1 star review because the doctor I spoke with was great. I signed up for Hone during a promo that they ran. $60 for a bloodtest. I knew that Hone was a membership model similar to Function Health but comparing the 2, Function Health is far more comprehensive with their biomarkers test and their platform is also far more advanced. I was more interested in HRT options and having the opportunity to speak with a Menopause specialist to discuss alternative options to my current plan. I had a 40-minute consultation with the doctor. She was informative, listened to my concerns and answered my questions and we came up with a new treatment plan based on my blood test results and current symptoms. She shared the price of the prescriptions, which were "reasonably" priced and I thought- great! Now I have a new plan in place that I am excited about. I got the "review your plan" notification from Hone and what a disappointment to find out that you have to pay $149/month - which covers 50 biomarker test every 90 days with a follow-up consultation after the next blood test. The medication is incremental to the monthly fee - another $150/month. so I would be spending $300+/month. WHAT A SCAM. Their platform is nowhere as robust as function health (I have friends who use them and I have seen their platform) and right now, Function Health is charging far less. It's unfortunate that Hone Health is capitalizing on people's health vs. giving people a cost-effective option to manage their health proactively. I am more than happy to pay a monthly fee but $149/month for basically getting access to their portal to see your test results is ridiculous, which I already got from Labcorp separately. I can't even access the consultation notes that my doctor uploaded because I have not paid the monthly fee, which I won't do. I went over to myalloy instead and paid a bit more for the same medication and a nominal fee for the doctor's consultation. It's unfortunate to see companies like Hone trying to gouge people for money rather than investing that into improving people's health. There are so many platforms now (hims, hers, myalloy, midi health, function health etc etc) all providing the same types of services - compounded meds for weight loss, hair loss, menopause, longevity etc etc - so do your research. Hone's platform is definitely not very impressive from a tech stack POV based on what I've navigated thus far- so I definitely don't know what the $149/month is going towards unless they're trying to fund themselves to build a more robust tech stack.

This review is inaccurate in a lot of ways, and doesn’t correctly convey Hone’s services—especially when comparing us to Function. Fiction Health is vastly more expensive than Hone and you do not have access to treatment or medication, let alone the level of care our doctors offer.
The membership from Hone covers regular biomarkers testing every 3-months, doctor consults every 3-months, non-routine doctor consults when necessary, personalized treatment plans and free shipping of medications. Plus 24/7 access to Hone’s Care Team. Once again, Function Health doesn’t offer nearly this much value. Their lab tests have more biomarkers, but not that much more and you’re paying HUNDREDS of dollars just for a test, no treatment.
Additionally, you do not have to pay a membership to access your doctor notes. Anyone who pays the $60 for labs, receives a nearly 50 minute doctor consult + full access to notes and treatment plan recommendations. Hone does not gate keep any of this information from you, unlike many of the other companies you listed. Function Health for instance, would cost over $300 just for the lab results.
If you’d like a better representation of Hone Health and a comparison to Function, feel free to email me at [email protected]

waste of time
I’m a full time nurse and a mom of 4. On my only day off I have an appt. I get up early, drive 40 minutes stuck in traffic, just to get there and told my birthday was input incorrectly by Hone Health and it happens ALL the time and they are very hard to get ahold of. Big waste of my time!!!!!!!

Hi Olivia, we requested more information about your review through Trustpilot as we have no record of a patient existing with Hone using the name this review was posted by. We also have no record of you reaching out to our Care Team or contacting Hone using that information.
Hone only sends the information that was given to us by the patient, so we'd love to explore your claim about the incorrect birthdate. Please respond to that request and our team will be in touch.

Is Hone Health a scam or just bad at servicing their clients?
I would like to share my experience with Hone Health in the spirit of transparency and consumer awareness. I paid for an initial test and scheduled a laboratory appointment. However, upon arriving at the test site, the facility had no record of my appointment. Since Hone Health does not offer direct phone support, I reached out via email requesting assistance.
Several days later, I was contacted by a Hone representative who apologized for the oversight and arranged for a home test one week later. Following the test, I received a text message prompting me to schedule a virtual consultation with a physician. Unfortunately, on the day of the scheduled meeting, the provided link failed to function on my phone, laptop, and desktop computer. The message included a support number for connectivity issues, but that number was disconnected.
I emailed the company again and was rescheduled for another virtual appointment the following week. Regrettably, the same technical failure occurred. After reviewing my account statements, I discovered that Hone had charged an additional $50 for each missed consultation—despite the issues being due to their system errors.
I am currently filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and strongly advise prospective clients to exercise caution when considering services from Hone Health.
*** Since I am unable to respond to Hone Health's response herein, I will include it here. Not only do I have a receipt of the $50 charge, but also the fact that I was charged the initial $45 twice. Please have someone contact me directly so I can provide all necessary information and photos associated with being unable to connect with doctor online***

Thanks for getting back to us with more information. Upon looking into your case, you were never charged for a $50 cancellation/missed consult. The Care Team received your outreach yesterday afternoon and will be in touch about your concerns soon. We do not have a direct phone line, since due to the nature of our service, phone support often leads to long wait times which isn't ideal. That said, if you prefer to speak over the phone, the Care Team will always call you. Please just message them the best day/time to call and they'll be in touch.

We’ve requested more information about this review through TrustPilot as it was posted without any contact info provided. If this is a genuine review, please respond to that request and our team will be sure to look into your case.
No patient will ever be stuck with a charge for missing a consult if they reach out to our Care Team. Whether technical difficulties or something else springs up for them.
Regarding your labs, it sounds like you may have scheduled your appointment with LabCorp before your Lab requisition form was generated. Hone will contact you when it’s time to schedule your lab test. If you do schedule beforehand, then LabCorp will have no record for you.

No help with estrogen build up. 1 pill a week won’t help. Doctor doesn’t care, but making $
Didn’t prescribe enough estrogen blockers, didn’t prescribe me anything. He admits some people can have high testosterone, but he didn’t want to do the same with me.. biasism
Edit- Going months cold turkey to lower my testosterone isn’t healthy either. Also I needed something for my testicular atrophy, but not many questions were asked. I also didn’t feel like I had much time to think. Was a brief consultation, & I won’t pay for something that doesn’t make sense.. $140 for 4 pills.. when they’re normally prescribed 30x or 1 a day. I would really like another consultation before I purchase anything.

I'll make sure a member from our team reaches to hear more about your experience. Our doctors aren't sales people, so they only prescribed what's in the best interest of our patients. Everyone responds differently to medications, and some estrogen blockers are very strong. This means doctors are careful with dosages and prescribing them. I know it can be frustrating to not get what you want, but we promise our doctors only prescribe what they truly believe is in the patient's best interest.
