We're sorry you didn't receive good service in this case, Barry. We investigated your job and gave you a full refund. Your selected service provider, Junk King Seattle, is a franchisee of the nationwide Junk King franchise. This is a very reputable company but there was a misfire in your case. The local Seattle franchise accepted your booking request, but their availability changed and they neglected to cancel the order. The number you contacted was a nationwide number for the central dispatch for Junk King...and central dispatch was unaware of your order. You should have been provided the local franchise phone number... our apologies for that. As a result of this situation, Hometown is requiring all of our service providers that are franchises to use the local franchise phone number for service requests rather than a central dispatch number.

We're very sorry your dumpster wasn't delivered as expected. Hometown Dumpster Rental investigated what happened and made sure you received a 100% refund. You originally ordered a 10 yard dumpster which your service provider confirmed. Then, the service provider had a couple of existing customers extend the time they needed their 10 yard dumpster, leaving your service provider short of their expected 10 yard inventory. 20 yard dumpsters were in stock and your service provider offered to deliver a 20 yard dumpster as a replacement, which you refused as too large for your space. As a result, your order needed to be canceled and refunded. Again, our apologies for the inconvenience.

Hi David. We're sorry for your poor experience. This was a case where a staff member for your service provider was confused and submitted you an incomplete quote. We expect 100% accurate pricing. Hometown Dumpster Rental has thousands of service providers nationwide and most have saved their pricing on the site and we help them double check those prices for accuracy. Your service provider has not yet saved their pricing and they submitted you a one-time quote. For some reason the staff member that submitted the quote to you did not include the full price, even though they are clearly instructed to do so on the quote request. Normally, if the customer cancels their booking there is a 5% cancellation fee. In this case, the cancellation was clearly not your fault and we have refunded the remaining 5% cancellation fee, bring your refund to 100%. Again, we're very sorry for the hassle.

Hi John. We apologize if there was any confusion about what could be placed in the dumpster before you booked it. We'll modify our order process to make sure those instructions are more clear going forward. When you rent a dumpster specifically for yard waste... other types of waste like general trash and construction debris cannot be mixed in. The reason is that general trash and green waste need to be dumped in separate locations. Landfills for general trash generally do not accept green waste, so the hauler needs a clean load of green waste. Other items like hazardous wastes and chemicals are never allowed in the dumpster for the same reason. They cannot be lawfully dumped at the landfill with general trash.

Your selected local service provider originally accepted your booking but later realized that they are not allowed to service your address in Point Reyes Station. Your location falls within a franchised area. This is not very common, but it means your city requires all homeowners to be serviced by one company that has agreed to pay the city for that access. It's essentially a hidden tax on residents. As we discussed, your order has been fully canceled and refunded. We’ve also updated our system to remove this area from the local provider's service area to prevent this from happening again. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and apologize again for the disruption. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can assist further.

David, Hometown Dumpster Rental investigated your report by speaking directly with you and with your service provider. The service provider confirmed that an internal communication issue led to your dumpster not being delivered on the day it was promised. We're very sorry for that poor service. We've now refunded the full cost of your original dumpster order and there is no cancellation fee. On our subsequent follow up with you we learned that you did have a dumpster delivered the following day. Again, we're sorry for that delay.

We're sorry your service provider was not able to accept your request for next day delivery. Their schedule was already full for that day. The most common solution in this case to select another service provider that has indicated they have availability. We never charge for a booking until the local service provider confirms they will deliver the dumpster. In your case, the service provider did not confirm so your card was authorized initially, but it was never charged. Sometimes it takes a day or two for the card company to remove the authorization. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused for you.
