Biggest switch and bait scam ever!
Biggest Bait and switch scam ever!! Do not make the same mistake I did.
I listed with HomeBay to sell my beach house as the selling agent I spoke with indicated they did everything a normal listing agent does, except show it. All of the promises he made then disappeared after the initial contract was signed and paid, ended up being a lie. The "agent" that I was assigned to did not contact me for 5 days after I signed up and paid the initial fee I had been promised that my beach property would be listed within a few days on MLS to make the holiday weekend coming up. Did not happen. The professional looking sale sign they advertised was never delivered. When I complained about it...and they finally answered, they said they were "out of signs". I insisted this was promised and crucial for my property and after a loooong conversation with their VERY RUDE agent (said he did all he would do), then my insistence that they needed to live up to the contract or it would be null and void, He said a sign would be installed in the next couple of days and if not, call him. Well, it wasn't and when I called, I was told he was unavailable. After my continual insistence a small wire "garage sale/home depot type" sign was stuck in the front lawn, barely visible from the street and overpowered by the other professional real estate signs on other properties on the street, similar to what they show in their ad photos.
The worst part is that I had found two interested buyers on my own and told them they could submit offers on the HomeBay website as I was told to say, but in the end, they never ended up submitted offers because according to the listing agents, HomeBay insists on them using their very hard to use online form to submit offers rather than the CLAW forms all realtors use, and since their brokers would only use these standard forms, and HomeBay didn't allow it, they moved on. The only other contact I had with the agent that was supposed to be available. to help, was him calling to tell me to lower the price after a couple of weeks. I reminded him about the lack of signage, and told him about the lost potential buyers and he ended the call with no response to the issues.
Luckily from the beginning, I insisted on only a 60 day contract which is now thankfully over.
If you want to waste precious time and money, make it harder to sell your property then HomeBay is the place for that.
I have been told Purple Bricks is superior in everyway, so if I hadn't decided to go with an experienced listing agent in the area, and wanted to save a lot of money on the listing side, I might try Purple Bricks.
I hope this saves you from having my terrible experience!

Dissapointed
Didn't understand how little you do for the reduced commission.

Better Trained Customer Service
In my honest opinion, I think Homebay has the right ideal. However, they need to spend more money in customer service and support. Almost every time I called, I had to leave a message. No live person to talk to, and a few time, the live person that I talked to, asked the wrong question, like what is my address instead of my phone number, so I didn't get a call back.
Response from Home BayAug 6, 2018
Hi David,
It's been sometime since you used Home Bay, but I wanted to give you an update. Back in 2017 we were a little light on staff, since 2018 we've adjusted our staff to provide customers like you a better experience. There are no more messages being left with us, in fact its the other way around now. We now document every small inquiry, that said a customer can now be looked up via phone number, email address, or by first name and last name.
For the service component: Looking at the account I noticed you felt you didn't see enough activity for inquiries. Because of that lack of inquiries back last spring 2017, we've adjusted the way we market - we no include Facebook ads, Search Engine Display, and now place 60 day contracts to make our mark to generate our multiple offers.
We thank you for your input, and would love for you to give us a second chance, as your voice directly has impacted the way we do business today.
