We purchased blueberry bushes from Holland Bulb Farm this spring. I was shocked when I opened the box to find that they were packed so poorly - there was a couple of inches of dirt in the bottom of the box, broken plants, one entirely missing from its paper cup pot. Their packing method was to throw the plants in the box, add some crinkled up paper on top. They looked dried out and dead. And they were. When I was finally able to get customer service on the phone they told me to wait 4 to 6 weeks and see if there would be any growth. This was after I sent them images of the damage and dead plants. Of course they didn't grow so after 6 weeks I sent them more detailed photographs and was finally able to get a refund. An arduous process. I will never order from this company again.

Only half of the things I ordered actually grew, and those that grew have yet to bloom. I've been waiting for more than a month to get a response from customer service regarding upholding their 100% Grow Guarantee. I don't have high hopes I'll ever get a response or be issued a refund or replacement, even though I provided photographic evidence to back up my complaint. I will never purchase from Holland Bulbs Farms again, and I cannot recommend anyone else do so!

Wish I would have seen these reviews before I ordered. Sent some of my order late 4 out of 8 lived. I cancelled the rest of the order when it was already mid June. Rep called and said they would send the other potted annuals next spring. Yesterday in July I received 3 water logged useless Petunia plugs. Got them totally rotted in water. Rest of order never arrived. I will never order from this company again and someone needs to do something about the lies they tell.

Ordered blue allium bulbs 2 years ago and they sent me ordinary garlic. Called to complain and they offered to resend them the next year. But guess what. They were ordinary garlic again.

About a month ago I ordered 12 Canna Lilly bulbs from them which cost me a bit over $30 with tax and shipping. Three of the bulbs were dead and mushy upon arrival. Others looked bad and a couple looked healthy. I complained about the three dead ones, sent a photo and got about $6 back from Holland Bulb. I meanwhile planted the other 9. Only two have sprouted after several weeks in the pot. So, I paid $24 for two good bulbs. Not my idea of success. Stay away.

Dishonest advertising. Published shipping schedules are not true, not even close. Purchased and paid for plant on 6/4/2026, the status remained "Pending Shipping" for three weeks. I checked on regular basis and they would never give me a solid answer. Customer service folks would not even try to investigate and see what they could do. They have ready answers of "Please be patient". I will never do business with them again.

Ordered a "Live plant 'start'". I knew it was gonna' be small, but fully expected it to be healthy, green & alive!! It arrived 99% dead. I had to look, very closely, to find a bit of green. TRYING to bring it back to life, before tossing it!!

This business is completely inept and unreliable. The saffron bulbs I ordered as a gift arrived full of insects. HBF gave me a store credit which I tried to use a year later to send a friend some clematis starts. When they hadn't shipped after several weeks I cancelled the order. To use up the creditI ordered "in stock" plant starts for myself "ships in 1 to 3 days". Still no sign after a week. That's 3 out of 3 fails. It is amazing HBF stays in business. Completely terrible retail experience.
