Bait and Switch
The services they provided and the services on their website do not match. They were not interested in helping sort. All they were interested in was throwing EVERYTHING away even things I was presently using like bath towels, my dogs toys, etc even though they were directed not to. When they removed the refrigerator they didn’t know what they were doing and put holes in my kitchen floor. They kept leaving the front door open even when not asked to because of my dog. They really didn’t seem to care. I felt I was not treated with respect. They said they would be there at 7:00a and would arrive at 10:30a on several occasions. They said it was because of the U-haul place. But they originally said they would get there at 7 and leave around 9 to get the U-haul and come back. The team was not professional. They show up with out a mop, broom and a broken vacuum cleaner. They finished 3/4 of the job and I couldn’t handle it anymore. I asked for a 1/4 refund. They said it would take a few days for Anthony to look over it. That was Sept.1. It is now the 18th. I contacted them again crickets! I can’t find them on Google, Facebook reviews or the BBB. Just beware. I’m editing this because I can’t comment to the below. Yes, I stopped the job. I couldn’t afford it anymore. Between throwing away stuff I use everyday and having to replace it, damaging my kitchen floor and me doing more work than them in some cases I couldn’t deal. I had to call a plumber because by leaving the front door open it caused so much condensation water leaked through my vent in my basement bathroom. I didn’t know that was a thing so I did not give them the $169 plumber bill. I asked to leave the door shut because of my dog. Once I did I let Marla know and she said she would inform the team. The next time the team came they left the front door wide open and when told could care less. Their idea of sorting was holding a trash bag while I sorted. Of course it would take several days if they arrive at 10:30 and leave by 2 because the dump or U-Haul place closed or whatever. I have not received any calls or texts unless they are calling from some bizarre number.
Response from Hoarding RescueSep 18, 2026
We’re disappointed to read this account of the project, as it leaves out some important context. Our team was at the property working over the course of multiple days, and the project was ultimately stopped at your request before our crew had the opportunity to complete the agreed-upon work. For that reason, we don’t believe it is accurate to characterize the unfinished portion of the project as work our team simply failed to perform. Hoarding Rescue absolutely provides sorting and organizing assistance in addition to removal and cleaning. Our crews are instructed to work with clients regarding what should be kept and what should be removed, and we take concerns about personal belongings seriously. We’re sorry that you felt your instructions were not being followed during portions of the project. We also want to clarify that your request for a partial refund was not ignored. We have attempted to reach you by phone to discuss your concerns and the circumstances surrounding the project, but unfortunately we have not been able to connect with you. We remain willing to have that conversation. We recognize that there were frustrations during a multi-day project of this size, including scheduling and arrival-time issues, and we understand why those would be upsetting. At the same time, we believe it is important to acknowledge that our team spent multiple days working at the property and was not permitted to finish the project before being asked to leave. We take pride in treating our clients and their belongings with respect, particularly because we understand how personal and overwhelming these situations can be. We would still welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly and address the remaining concerns.
