Would Not Recommend. The crew did not finish the job and…
The crew did not finish the job and left yard a mess and did not have to proper tools for the job. They asked my wife if they could borrow a wheelbarrow. They called me at work to let me know that the work was complete (which is was not). I came home to a mess and had to spend time finishing the job and cleaning up the driveway. I would not recommend this company for any projects.

Hi MCH, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are sincerely sorry to hear about your experience. Leaving a project incomplete, lacking the proper tools, asking to borrow equipment, and leaving a mess for you to clean up after work are completely unacceptable and far below the standards we hold our teams to. We take this feedback very seriously and are investigating what happened with this crew to ensure proper tool preparation, complete job execution, and thorough site cleanup are strictly enforced moving forward.

His Workmanship employees and supervisor
His Workmanship employees (Evan and Noah) came out twice to work in my yard. My directions both times were to take all the weeds out by roots, then put landscape fabric down. The first time they did just that, along with putting all the heavy bags of yard waste in my car for me and cleaning up after themselves. The second time they came out I wasn’t around for the last hour of their work. When I looked over their work that afternoon, it seemed like that had gotten a lot done in that time and I got suspicious. I looked under the landscape fabric for both areas they worked on and found they had not taken any of the weeds out. They also hadn’t put the heavy garbage cans full of yard waste in my car as I had asked them to. I contacted Eric (their boss) with my complaint and asked that it be corrected free of charge to me. He said that the “industry standard” was to put landscape fabric on top of weeds and that would kill the weeds. I told him that I found other information saying it’s best to get rid of the weeds first. I also added that the customer should be the one dictating what work is to be done for them. He said that “they [the workers] utilized a common industry practice intended to save you on labor costs, as removing every small weed by the root can significantly increase the hours billed.” I countered with the fact that prior to deciding to veer off my directions to them, they should have asked me first before proceeding. He said, “I'm sorry the workers did not follow your instructions more carefully in this matter.” Then he said they would not be doing any further work for me to correct this without charging me for their time.
I will not be working with this agency anymore. If you choose to, please heed the warning that the workers may not do as you requested.

Hi Jan, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustration caused during your second project with us. You are completely right: regardless of general industry practices, our team should always follow your explicit instructions or communicate directly with you before making any changes to the scope of work. Failing to pull the weeds prior to laying the fabric and not loading the yard waste into your vehicle as requested were clear oversights on our end. We hold our crews to high standards of communication and customer preference, and we are using this experience as a teaching moment to ensure client instructions are strictly followed.

Hi Workmanship violated a judgment…
His Workmanship violated a judgment order to move items to a required location in order to follow the path of least resistance. It was required by the order of judge in Grand Rapids to have items delivered. To a specific location. The party to receive the items intercepted the delivery, even though I showed them the judgement, and convinced them to move the items to another location.. I am now in jeopardy of violating the order required by the Grand Rapids courts. His Workmanship blamed multiple employees and owners by pointing fingers at each other. They promised to honor the judges requirement. So, I paid them in full in advance. I now potentially face fines against me for violating the order even though I showed them the requirement and they promised to deliver to the required location.
Never use or trust this company. The workers were very kind and professional. However, management team was irresponsible and did not care what the consequences would be for me by delivering another location and violating the order. I requested a refund. They refused.
Never, ever use or trust them.

Hi Arija, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We take feedback regarding our services very seriously. While our crews strive to handle every move professionally and follow client preferences, our team members must also navigate on-site directions from the receiving parties present during delivery. We sincerely regret any frustration, confusion, or distress caused by how the delivery was handled on-site. Because this involves specific delivery logistics, court documentation, and legal requirements, we would appreciate the opportunity to review the details of your service order again. Please reach out to our management team directly at [email protected] so we can discuss this situation further.

I would not recommend this company
I would not recommend this company. The crew arrived late, did not work efficiently, and left an hour early. There was also a lot of time spent walking around without actually working.
My project specifically involved large weed removal, which was agreed upon in advance. However, partway through the job, I was told they couldn't complete that portion because there wasn’t room in the trailer—despite there being available space in both the trailer and the back of the truck, especially if tarps had been used. Instead, the team shifted to removing small weeds (which I didn’t need), stating they had to fill the 8 hours per Eric, the owner.
Our contract clearly outlined 8 hours of labor, and the $250 trailer fee for removal was supposed to be separate from that work time. Despite this, the crew left early, saying they needed time to drop off the trailer.
I reached out to Eric three times and requested that the team return to complete the job as agreed or to issue a partial refund. He has not responded. (Ironically, he was very responsive when securing the job—something echoed in other reviews.)

Hi Kara, Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the experience you described regarding your project, including the delays, the confusion around trailer space for large weed removal, and the crew leaving before completing the agreed-upon hours. We take contract commitments, proper communication, and quality of service very seriously. It is completely unacceptable that your outreach went unanswered.

We were abandoned and charged.
Our family had a terrible experience with His Workmanship.
We hired 4 workers for 8 hours for two days (9-5 each day), to weed and mulch bedding in our yard, at a cost of $4420. On our first day, we did a walkthrough to show the weeds and beds. Before the second day of work, we shared pictures of large weeds the team missed on the first day (likely they weren’t identified as weeds), and agreed that we’d be back by 5:00 to walk through and settle with the team.
Evidently our e-mailed instructions, photos, and the first day's verbal instructions were not relayed, because the second day's team only finished mulching the one incomplete area left by the first day’s team, leaving behind weeds, unmulched beds next to adjacent bags of mulch. The team tried to contact me at 3:00 (as I made clear, I was at work and not available), then left. My wife returned from work by 3:30 and the team had already left without authorization and without doing any of the weeding in our verbal correspondence, e-mailed correspondence, or e-mailed photos. They left all areas that the prior days team had not begun unweeded and unmulched, along with extra mulch in our driveway right next to the unweeded and unmulched beds that we had asked them to take care of. They charged us for the full eight hours after leaving two hours early, without authorization, and without the walkthrough we agreed to do when we returned from work. All our e-mailed correspondence and Ring screenshots with timestamps are available upon request.
Given that our instructions were all in writing and we followed our commitments to be available after our own workdays, we asked to be credited or refunded for the two hours they left without authorization and undone work (communicated both verbally and in writing). His Workmanship confirmed that the team was not supposed to leave without authorization, but declined to credit or refund the time they were paid to work but not working or available to work.
I don’t fault workers, who probably never received any direction from the team hired on the first day or my e-mailed instructions. We paid them fully while they were on the clock but gone from the property. We don't want the company's poor communication or loose norms to affect the workers. But I do fault the company for not delivering on what we agreed upon and paid for, failing to honor our written instructions, and then not making it right with us. Given their poor internal communication, inconsistent supervision, and unwillingness to correct their mistakes, I would not recommend them, especially if you need to be away while they are supposed to be on shift.
(I shared the substance of the above with my contact at His Workmanship to confirm the accuracy. I was offered "one free hour" if I bought two hours additional work. We do not want "one free hour." We want the work that we paid for, but could not receive, because the team left before we returned from work and during their shift.)
Response from His WorkmanshipOct 19, 2026
Hi Alan, Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback regarding your family's experience. We sincerely apologize for the breakdowns in internal communication, the missed instructions, and the crew leaving before the agreed-upon 5:00 PM walk-through. You are completely right to expect that the written instructions, photos, and scope of work you provided would be communicated directly to the team on-site. Leaving early without authorization and leaving unweeded and unmulched areas behind—while charging for full scheduled hours—does not reflect the standard of service or integrity we aim to uphold. We also understand your frustration regarding our initial resolution attempt. We want to make sure this is properly addressed and reviewed at the management level. Please reach out to us directly at [email protected] so management can re-examine your account details, review the unbilled time, and work with you directly to find a fair solution.

I initially scheduled work and needed to reschedule.
I initially scheduled work with this company, but had to reschedule due to my daughter's illness and a subsequent doctor's appointment. Their contract, which is not signed, states there is a $90 fee for canceling work. While I understand the need for a cancellation fee, I was prepared to reschedule and pay the $300 bill, along with offering additional work if they performed well. However, Eric, a representative from the company, persistently contacted me at odd hours, pressuring me to pay the $90 fee. His behavior was unprofessional and unsettling, making me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. I would not recommend working with this company based on my experience.

I'm saddened to hear about your negative experience, Samantha. It is true that we do charge a 1 hour fee if customers need to cancel or reschedule their originally booked time, given the inconvenience for us and our service providers. That said, we do occasionally make exceptions to this policy depending on the explanation for the change, as well as how much advance notice is provided. In your situation, it was a last minute change and, in my opinion, the work could have been sufficiently completed without you on the property (which was your reason for the rescheduling request).

The workers were excellent and got their work done in 75 minutes. Eric charged for three hours of labor and would not provide a partial refund. When I asked for a partial refund he said “No”. No explanation provided . Not very transparent with his pricing. Not a Christian organization
Response from His WorkmanshipDec 30, 2024
I apologize for your poor experience, John. We do normally have a 3 hour minimum payment for 2 workers for each jobsite. This was communicated on the website, on our email correspondence, and via text message. We don't offer refunds if the crew happens to work fast and finish all your projects ahead of schedule, and before the minimum time slot is complete. However, had you needed more yard work accomplished, then the crew would've been happy to stay longer to work on those projects. You were not on site for the job since you live out of state, so the crew leader was not able to contact you directly about this option. Next time we will try to get on the same page regarding your expectations. Thanks for your understanding.

NOT Trustworthy
We have used His Workmanship 2 times with completely different experiences. The first could not have gone better! The crew was exceptional—such hard workers! With this in mind we had very high hopes for this recent visit; however, we could not be more disappointed. This crew did not seem to accomplish a whole lot in the 3 hours. Their work was sloppy—they left trimmings all over the porch and bed, and bushes were not cut cleanly (lots of uneven pieces sticking up). They did not even bring any equipment. The most frustrating part however was how things were handled from there. The His Workmanship website states very clearly that ALL email is answered within 24 hours—the owner, has always been quick to respond in terms of questions about coming out for a job, and yet, when we emailed him (2 times!) asking to discuss this recent less-than-stellar performance he completely ignored us! It’s been 2 weeks and no word whatsoever. This is unacceptable customer service! Sadly, it seems, they only respond when it profits them. If we could have had a simple conversation, the company might have kept our loyalty and business! As it stands we are upset and especially disheartened from this experience—this is NOT a good reflection of HIS workmanship!! We honestly chose this company because they stand apart as an upfront Christian organization. We really love what this is supposed to be based on! The whole premise of the company leads us to believe they have integrity and are a service that stands by its work, is trustworthy, and one that treats its customers fairly. How very disappointing to be treated otherwise. From this experience we would NOT recommend using this company!

Hi Rachael, Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback. We are deeply sorry and disheartened to hear about your experience with this recent visit. Leaving trimmings behind, uneven bush trimming, and coming without proper equipment are completely unacceptable standards for our team. Even more concerning to us is the breakdown in communication. We hold ourselves to a high standard of responsiveness, integrity, and accountability, so failing to reply to your emails and missing the opportunity to address your concerns promptly falls far short of the values we stand for as a company. We sincerely apologize for letting you down on both fronts.
