Beware: Good in a pinch but not for follow-up
During a very busy week late at night I realized I had a UTI. Urgent care was closed and I had to do something very quickly. After a Google search I found Wisp and within 12 hours, I was diagnosed and had a prescription for antibiotics in my system. The only issue is that they prescribed the bare minimum number of days (3) which I know is standard of care and my UTI was a bit more fierce. I sent a message to my provider asking for a refill and did not hear back from the. Customer service did get back to me and explained they had a high number of consults. It is three days and still nothing from my provider. I have been managing on my own and got myself D-mannose online after finding a randomized clinical trial indicating that it is highly effective in treating UTIs and preventing them but this could have been serious. Our healthcare system is in such a state that I worry for folks who are going to need to rely on inadequate telehealth like this. I'm wondering if the catch here is getting customers to spend another $65 for the same thing. Would be better if there was a bit more continuum of care but in a pinch, this helped me stop being in pain. I will be more cautious using this service in the future, however, since it could do more harm than good if you have a serious infection and need more support. Just beware of what you are getting and go in knowing that.
