Stay away. The reviews are our experiences unfortunately. They will do anything to over charge you or to literally inconvenience you. If or when you cancel and you are on the phone with them finalizing everything. They send a charge to you but never contact you ever and then you get contacted by a debt collector saying you didn't pay your last bill.

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE SHORT OR LONG TERM DISABILITY WITH THE HARTFORD COMPANY. They like to take your money but when it comes time to pay you they put every obstacle to delay or not pay you at all!!A little background, I had an imbalance problem since Aug. 2025, using a walker for safety and had to stop driving. In Jan. 2026 I had to start using a neck brace which I am still using currently along with my walker and will be using them for months to come. I had 2 neck surgeries within 2 months of each other which was successful. I was not able to go back to work remotely until July 1, 2026. The Hartford company has not paid me since May 29/26 until present. The company claims the mailed me forms for Long Term disability twice which I never received and emailed me the same letter which they never did. The Hartford company have asked for notes from my neurologist, neck surgeon and my physical therapist, all have given the company full detailed notes and still every week they want more. Now after weeks of emailing back and forth and calling the person that is handling my case, Emani Lacey, only sends me a cookie cutter email or answers my calls with a very nice memorized script but nothing pertaining to my case and her supervisor, Debra O'Brien, is another person that does not help at all. First they said a decision was going to be made by July 17 and now it was moved to July 23 The only answer is that my case is with a third party company called "Peer Department" and they do not give you their phone number or an email to write to them. I was told 3 weeks ago that this department needed to speak with my surgeon to get more information as to why I could not work from May 29 to June 30 and as of today they have not contacted him.I guess they have a form they follow and if your particular case does not conform to that form they do not know what to do and just keep on asking for more and more information. Information that does not exist. I was discharged form the hospital from my 2nd surgery on Mar. 30 but the "Peer Dept" wants information from the hospital from April 1/26 to present!!!!! I was told that this department has medical professionals but I believe that they are just paper pushers that have no medical credentials at all!! So please be very vigilant if you have to deal with this company which is the worst to deal with.

The absolute worst company I have ever worked with. If you need insurance either personal, or for your business in my case, chose a different insurance company.

I would give a negative number for Hartford Insurance, if possible. I paid a high auto rate with good credit rating for several years. I was ignorant about how I was being overcharged. I had two no fault accidents during this time and it was a nightmare trying to get them to pay, so I could pick up my car when work was completed. The agent who was in charge of my claim was unreachable until I reported him to his supervisor. This company is a rip off to unsuspecting elderly people. Stay away from them. When I canceled on the due date of my next billing cycle, I received another charge for the past yearly cycle. When I questioned the bill I was given a nonsensical answer for the charge. Totally the worst auto insurance possible.

I give them a ZERO for customer service

I received a letter August 2025 that stated my step son had been added to my car insurance policy. I called immediately and the customer service lady researched the issue and took him off due to his dad already covered him. I never got a refund. I called back in January on the 15th the customer service looked and put a correspondence through to billing/underwriting. Now as of today just spoke to customer service again asking where is my refund. I was on this call for 45 minutes and she stated underwriting/billing said NO REFUND due to lack on my part not replying fast enough to the original letter. OMG! This will GO AS HIGH IN COURT as I will show ALL MY CORRESPONDENCE and time lines to the JUDGE!!! Do NOT get involved with the HARTFORD😡

Car insurance with the Hartford is super expensive and this company are crooks they take and take your money and they never offer any discounts. Not for over 55 or anything! Worst service and having the app is the worst ever! You miss one payment they block you from accessing the app to redo the payment, now you have to call them to do the payment they are the WORST.

As an AARP member I get junk mail from the Hartford all the time. We'll I finally made the call to get a quote. Person on phone was nice. I am 67 and have not had an accident in 40 years, retired Leo. I have 3 vehicles, an suv, small pickup and a F350 through all state. FIRST, they would not insure my 350. SECONDLY, I asked for a detailed quote so I could compare with my all state. All they gave me was a bottom line figure. Nothing showing coverage amounts. FINALLY, they were a lot higher and no coverage on my 350. I'm not going to switch.
