Hampton Inn Shady Grove Memphis (Nightmare)
If you are in search of a good hotel experience, I would not recommend staying at the Hampton Inn on Shady Grove in Memphis. I am currently working with the hotel's management team to resolve a serious incident that has invaded my privacy and security. I hope that a feasible solution will be reached, and my opinion of the hotel will change. Although I'm a Hilton Honors member and have had wonderful experiences with the Hilton brand, my stay at this particular hotel was a complete nightmare. Without my permission, several staff members and supervisors entered my hotel room and took valuables and items, which were verified and documented by the hotel and their insurance company. When I raised the issue with the hotel, I was told that it's their policy to enter guest rooms without their consent, which is unacceptable. During check-in, I was informed that any access to my room would require my prior permission. That is why I felt safe in bringing some valuable items to the hotel room. As a senior citizen and a 30-year veteran school teacher, I was shocked and appalled by the administrative conduct and rules of violating the privacy of the hotel guests. Although the general manager of the hotel was cooperative and understanding, she was evasive when it came to addressing her staff's behavior and treatment of guests. The hotel offered me a $50 gift card for the inconvenience, but it hardly compensated for the trouble, pain, and suffering I had to endure from the taunting of the hotel employees. It's disturbing that all of this appalling conduct and action came from the upper management of the hotel. Not only do subordinate staff members sleep on the job behind a pulled curtain in the makeshift check-in area, but profanity can also be heard by staff members in the back corners of the hotel, especially in the washer/dryer area. Staff members also frequent the parking lot, loudly cussing while chatting with friends or family members on FaceTime. When staff members come into your room without your permission and take items without your knowledge, it takes matters too far. Also, they do not take accountability for their actions and taunt the guest for complaining and being concerned for their safety. If you're thinking about booking a stay at this hotel location, I urge you to consider spending a little extra money to stay at the Embassy Suite, which is directly next door and shares the same parking lot. Your peace of mind and security are priceless, and the extra dollars you spend will be worth it. While the Hampton Inn is undergoing renovations, looks can be deceiving. So, potential guests, beware! I'm sharing my experience so that others can be informed and avoid the risks of staying at this location. A hotel that refuses to take accountability for their actions and makes the guest feel violated and not safe. Potential hotel guest BEWARE. "Peace of mind and safety is everything." Best wishes.
