Reaction to reply of Hairqare: this is not how it is advertised at all, they keep sending you emails about how you NEED to buy the full program, otherwise the results won’t last. Just putting this out there so you consider this when buying.
She gives good information, but only in general. If you want it for your hair type, which is necessary, you need to pay an extra $997.

Hi Dutchie,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'm glad you found our content help and I'm sorry you were not happy about the price of Hairqare Lab.
You're absolutely right that our challenge content is general. It's designed to provide a strong evidence-based foundation to achieve better hair and avoid the mistakes of listening to mainstream advice. The knowledge is intended to be enough for most women. If that worked for you, you shouldn't spend $997. That would be overkill.
Hairqare Lab is only for women with complicated situations where general advice doesn't work.
For example, women who have tried 10+ products that don’t work for their hair type, hair loss that won't stop (postpartum, stress, medication, etc), coloring/heat-styling/bleaching but wanting it to be healthy, multiple overlapping issues (hormonal + damage + scalp + nutritional), contradictory advice from every expert, blood results look fine despite noticeable symptoms. Basically, their experience is that nothing works like it "should".
For these women, they need deep personalization. The $997 enrollment fee isn't for "info about your hair type." It's for a complete system that guarantees a hair transformation by working with individual women's hair on a biological level.
Honestly, we'd love to offer Hairqare Lab for less. But personalizing to 100,000+ unique profiles requires a comprehensive assessment system, custom protocols for each profile, specialized deep-dives for specific problems, ongoing adaptation as your life and hair changes, expert guidance when you get stuck, and more.
That level of personalization requires significant expertise and labor to deliver. The investment reflects what's actually required to serve complicated cases.
I just want to reassure you that if the general advice works for you, you really don't need this. If you keep up what you learned in the challenge, you may see that most of your issues will go away. And we hope it does. And if you happen to be someone with a more complex situation, we're here to help.
Wishing you continued success,
Sarah

Not for curlies
Of course when we see the creator’s hair along with testimonials of other “students,” we have high hopes. I joined the 14-day challenge with belly button length hair and hoped I could learn how to get it waist length. There were some valuable things I learned, for sure, and I do think this company believes that they are helping women. But I also think they won’t easily admit that there is a larger money making ethos about them. The entire challenge, regardless of what their follow up comments say, are to introduce themselves to sell the advanced challenge at 500, 1k or more. Hey, most people are out here making a living so I can’t knock the hustle, but it’s definitely not something that aligns with my values in trusting a brand. Additionally, as someone with curly hair, I didn’t find that this programme helped me nor was I convinced that the advanced challenge would be any more beneficial.
It’s tempting to believe that something can catapult your hair to a new level and I wanted to believe, but honestly my gut led me away. There’s so many scams and marketing gimmicks these days and when my instinct makes me question, even slightly, I trust it. That being said, I believe this company will fight tooth and nail to present a different viewpoint. Still, this is certainly my take and experience.
I feel they gave just enough information to get you through the 14 days but it was all to lead to their advanced programme. If they had started the 14 day challenge and on day 1 said this is an intro, you will get some info that we feel will benefit you but if you really want change then the advanced class is best for you, I’d respect them more. But they didn’t do that which certainly makes me feel that there is money motivation as opposed to what they say their aim is: to help empower women. We all know that many “smart marketers” use video courses that are all to get us to buy more and I’m not convinced this is something different.
Also many examples that they showed were for non-textured hair…I saw one or two with curly or textured hair and I don’t remember them with particularly long hair as was the case with straight and wavy examples. That matters to someone with my hair type.
I found the shampoo mix and ph info helpful. Also knowledge of supplements that conflict with one another was great to know. A different perspective on sulphates and silicones was appreciated. But there was a lot of: you need to know your exact hair profile and that won’t be covered in this 14-day challenge. Maybe a smarter tactic for them is to give the 14-day free or for $5 then people might feel more positive to join what I suspect they really want people to join (their advanced program).
There was this whole: win the advanced by commenting and comment on social media or review (here) for more points to be in the running. Again, I don’t knock the hustle, but take that as you will, because I took it as market-y as opposed to legit proof in the pudding. Not saying this company is a scam, scam. I’m sure many have benefited from what they offer, but I’m also not saying that they are one of those companies where the customer is bigger than the money. Those are rare these days, anyway.
They also had a deal for the conditioner when I joined and something happened on my end where the add on didn’t add. I asked customer service if it could be added. They said yes, at full price. I explained there was an issue on my end but they wouldn’t allow me the original discount. Not saying they were obligated to, but those things stand out to a customer and I think it says a lot about them and how they value their customers.
Biggest advice: look at the 14-day as just a bit of info, with some things that you can likely find for free, and join advanced if you have the funds and aren’t fussed about spending. And if you are a curly or have textured hair, I’d say: nah girl, try something more suited to us x.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and honest review. I can feel how much care you put into this, and it really means a lot that you shared your experience so openly. I want to respond with that same level of honesty and care.
First of all, if your gut told you this wasn't right for you, you absolutely made the right decision. Please trust that instinct. Not everyone needs Haircare Lab, and that's completely okay.
You're totally right about the curly and textured hair representation, and I'm genuinely glad you brought this up. Most of our transformation examples are curl types 2a-3b because that's been our historical majority, but that's a gap we're actively working to improve. If the Challenge didn't feel relevant to your textured hair type, I completely understand why you'd question whether the full program would be either.
I understand the frustration when you sense there's a sales motivation behind something, especially when you're hoping for pure education and empowerment. The Challenge is designed to give real value (which it sounds like you did get from the pH info, supplement conflicts, and sulfate/silicone perspective), AND it introduces women to Hairqare Lab so they can decide if they want more. However, the content of the challenge is enough to make a big difference for many women and not every woman needs Hairqare Lab.
Regarding the "money making ethos", you're not wrong that we need to make money. We do.
Let me share what it actually takes to run our Hairqare school:
- A team of 12+ people - experts, medical professionals, research staff, customer support, community moderators, operations, marketing - all with salaries and benefits
- Server and hosting costs for 100,000+ members accessing our platform daily
- Development and ongoing maintenance of our diagnostic and assessment tools
- Expert consultations and continuous research to keep our content current
- Platform infrastructure that runs 24/7, plus email service providers, payment processors, and more
- Customer support available across multiple time zones
Our monthly operational costs exceed $70,000. That's not money I get to take home as profit. That's money that goes straight out every single month just to keep the doors open and continue serving people well.
The reality is that we genuinely, deeply want to help women understand their hair. That mission is real - I promise you that. AND we need to charge for our services to sustain the expertise and infrastructure required to actually deliver that help. If we gave everything away for free, we wouldn't be able to pay our team members. Eventually, we'd burn through our savings and have to shut down. And then we'd help no one.
We make money so we CAN keep helping women - not the other way around. Our business activities enable us to fund our mission and improve the program so it can make a bigger impact.
I know that doesn't erase the tension you feel between "mission-driven" and "money-making." I understand why those can feel at odds. All I can tell you is that we're doing our very best to hold both of those things with integrity.
About the conditioner discount issue: I'm genuinely sorry about that experience. You're absolutely right that honoring the original discount would have been better customer service, especially given the technical issue on your end. We're actively working to improve our processes with the team so situations like this are handled with more care and flexibility.
I'm truly sorry the experience didn't align with your values or meet your needs and I'm grateful you took the time to share all of this so thoughtfully so we can do better.
We're not perfect but we're learning every day how to serve our customers better. We're giving our best effort to this work, and your feedback helps us do that more effectively.
Wishing you all the best with your hair journey. ❤️

Buyer beware - Updated to 2*
Buyer beware! This is a review about the company's sales practices, they advertise a full refund within 14 days of purchase. I purchased and requested a refund within 24 hours only to be told that the Luxury DIY Workshop is not refundable due to it's digital nature. Well, this entire programme is digital and in their refund policy they do not mention partial refunds, they claim full refunds. I have not even accessed the content of the course but that is besides the point; basically, if they claim full refunds but do not honour this, what else is false about their marketing? Buyer beware of the bait-and-switch tactics. Also, read other 3-star or less reviews, both on this site and on other forums, and realise that some components of their offering simply do not work. Further for what they are charging, a little research can provide the information you need. I have raised a dispute with my credit card company. Don't waste time or money with Hairqare.
Update to 2-stars from 1-star following full refund
After raising a dispute with my bank and letting Hairqare know about it, they contacted me and acknowledged that their communication around refunds is unclear/misleading and that they would refund me in full. I appreciate this gesture, it is just regrettable that I had to go through calling the bank, obtaining a policy adjustment for this retailer, posting a negative review, and calling the bank again to advise that the retailer eventually refunded the full amount. Lots of hassle and much time spent with little reward, not a good experience.

Hi there, thank you so much for sharing this with us.
We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t feel clear or aligned with your expectations. We completely understand how frustrating that must have been, especially after making your request so quickly.
After reviewing our conversation, we saw that your Challenge was refunded immediately, but the Luxury DIY Workshop you had added is covered by a different policy, as it’s a separate optional bonus. However we realize that our communication wasn't clear enough about this and the billing team has already processed the full refund. Please check your inbox for their confirmation.
The trust of our students means everything to us, we're reviewing and improving our communication so future students won’t experience the same confusion.
We really appreciate you bringing this to our attention, feedback like yours helps us grow and serve our community better every day. Our entire mission is to empower women with transparent, science-based education about their hair, and we’ll continue to do everything we can to honor that commitment.
Warm wishes,
The Hairqare Team 💜

Disappointing lack of honesty
Sara and her team has a great knowledge about what to do with haircare but the 14 day course, as other were commenting, has just 3 or 4 days that were worth the money spent. You learn about silicones, sulfated and two recipes of shampoo. All the other days were a big introduction for making you realize that you can't live without the knowledge she is giving you, asking much more money.
All of this done with very awfull market strategies, such as repeating over and over that you need to know which is your hair type, that she doesn't have time to explain now lot of things because it is so complex... But she had time to show all the money you will save just giving her lot of money, several times. She had the time to talk about her personal experience and do the life coach, talking about stress, motivation for workout, good diet... Found it very frustrating, specially the last days, where she installs a addictive strategy to make the customers that has been tricked buy more programs.
Give 2 stars because they actually have a good knowledge, but they just want much more money to share it and they are absolutely not transparent about it.

The main goal of the course is to sell her long course.
I do not recommend the Hair Care 14-day course and am very disappointed with it.
What I expected:
- Get quality homemade haircare product recipes to make and use instead of store-bought shampoo.
- Learn what ingredients could I test to work for me.
- Learn the rest of the haircare routine - conditioner, protective oils, masks.
What I got:
- A list of bad ingredients.
- How to use sulfites and silicones.
- Basic shampoo recipe (which I think is ok).
- Long, beautiful PDF workbooks, which could be much shorter and to the point.
- Multiple times in each video the author mentions that she has no time in this course to talk about any of the important things such as which conditioner to use, which shampoos to try out that have good ingredients, which ingredients to use, which oils to use, and how to adjust ingredients individually.
- 3 of 14 days were valuable (sulfites, silicones, shampoo making), the rest was just talking about a basic understanding of absolute intro to well-known things such as you need protein, supplements, exercise, and meditation. The main goal of the course is to sell her long course where you get the value of individualizing your hair-care routine. Which I was expecting in this course.
- She explains what definitely NOT to use, but says almost nothing about WHAT TO USE. No understanding of what I could be using except the general shampoo. No understanding of the oils, possible ingredients, and ready-made products. She leaves me hanging not knowing what to use so I want to buy the other course.
Basically, the course says you need many things for your hair to grow well, but "what things I cannot tell you in this course, because you need to know your personal hair profile and there is no time in this course". So what’s the point of the course?
I would not leave any bad reviews if the shampoo would be good, but even that was not given fully. The shampoo can last only for a week and to know how to preserve it for longer, you have to buy another course for $99. To get individual info, you have to buy a much more expensive course for $497.
Misleading and disappointing.
I think the author is smart and researched everything very thoroughly, plus I got the shampoo, that’s why the 2 stars instead of 0, but the quality of this particular course, in my opinion, is low.
Still, thank you for the recipe! And I wish you the best!

Big titles, no cover for the promises
The 14-day challenge starts good, each day there is a video with actual learning material and a task. So in the beginning I felt it was interesting and I did learn new stuff. But after several days, it's becoming to be a commercial for the yearly program with costs much more.
After a week the daily tasks become to be a time waste and no new data is really given.
For example: "What to avoid in hair oil" speaks for 10 minutes on how much money you can save on not buying expensive oils but tells nothing about which oils you should buy, how and when to use them. literally nothing! not on the scalp or how often...
"Putting an End to split ends" day can be cut out to "if you have spare time cut your split ends" and a video on cutting not split ends since "I don't have any" ... can't you film another person split ends?
There is a day which the mission is "twik the shampoo" but no explanation of how to do it or examples for improvements...
A lesson on how aloe vera is good without explaining really how to apply it.
And the most amazing task - start exercise in the morning.
The most helpful info is the homemade shampoo, which I've tried and makes my hair feel better. But let's face it, it's not like I'm gonna make my shampoo forever. I prefer to buy one that is good, but I could not find any on iHerb (by her terms) and there are no recommendations on good ones...
Also what about all the other hair products? like mask, conditioner, or serum?
I thought I'd learn more about how often to use each product, how to apply them, and how to solve specific hair problems. If you recommend using Aloe-vera why you are not explaining how and when.
There is no reference to different hairstyles.
Overall disappointing since I expected to be more educated at this point + get tips that I can actually apply.

Hi Shira,
Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback on our 14-day haircare challenge. We're glad to hear that you found the initial part of the course interesting and learned new things. Your insights are precious in helping us improve.
We understand your concerns about the latter part of the challenge feeling more like a lead-in to our yearly program. Our goal is to balance providing valuable information for those without complex hair problems and showcasing the more in-depth learning available in our full program for those with more complicated problems.
We appreciate your suggestions for more detailed demonstrations and we have considered these for future content updates.
It's great to hear that the homemade shampoo recipe worked well for you. While making shampoo at home isn't for everyone, it's a great way to understand what goes into your haircare products. For ready-made shampoo recommendations, we're continuously working to update our database to include products that meet our criteria and are easily accessible.
Your point about wanting more information on how often to use each product and their application method is well taken. This feedback is crucial for enhancing our curriculum and ensuring it's as practical and informative as possible.
Remember, our community and support team are always here to help with any specific questions or concerns. We're committed to helping you on your haircare journey and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with more insights and solutions in the future.
Thank you again for your honest review, and we wish you all the best with your haircare journey.
Best,
Sarah

Not worth it
Note:
This review concerns HGL as it has been up to August 2021. A new version of the program, which should incorporate much feedback, have better capacity and be greatly improved, should launch at the start of 2022.
HGL has initialised my refund, after having shown much concern regarding my negative experience. They were happy to receive feedback. (Update: November 2021)

The challenge is quite interesting and for €20 a good deal. The actual programme is not worth it, though. I would say the most important things are already covered in the challenge.
The Lab costs by far too much money for what you are actually offered, and besides that, it costs a lot of your own time and effort for further research. The course materials are quite limited and difficult to navigate. The programme also tells you to buy expensive things and a tonne of obscure ingredients in bulk (difficult to find!) and supposes that making your own products with these will save you money in the long run (which it only might if you already buy overpriced shampoos and treatments). You also would need to completely devote your life (food, supplements, sports, etc.) to the programme, which I feel is very taxing and not sustainable. There are a lot of rules that are just way too impractical (e.g.: I am not allowed to brush my hair). I tried this for a while with good hope, but in the end it only fried my head and made me way too tense about my health and lifestyle.
After a year, I actually do not notice a difference in my hair. I have only grown more insecure about it.
Response from HairqareAug 31, 2021
Hi Celine,
This is Sarah. I just want to say I'm really sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the program and that you have not noticed a difference in your hair. What breaks our heart the most about this review isn't just that you didn't have a good experience with us, but that you've grown more insecure about your hair since starting with us. When we started HGL, we did so with the mission to make haircare science simple and easy to follow, giving women the tools and resources to achieve the hair that makes them feel truly beautiful.
While we see a lot more student success stories within our community, we understand that we fell short and failed you. This is something we take this very seriously. This is absolutely not okay for us, and we do not want other students to ever feel the way you feel right now. Do you mind taking some time to read this reply and provide some feedback to help us understand exactly what went wrong so we can make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else?
Firstly, I want to take the time to inform you that the 100% Success Guarantee Refund is designed to protect students like you. If you didn't see results, we do not deserve your money and you are entitled to a full-refund. That's always been our promise, and we believe this is fair and stays true to our mission and values of empowering women to achieve the results they deserve. If we can't help, then we hope that you can invest those funds into other options that help you feel beautiful.
I also want to reassure you that the course ciriculum does not expect you to implement everything all at once, so please don't expect that you need to do everything in one go. We're here to offer you the big picture and the ability to create your own tailored experience to reach your ultimate hair goals. The journey is about us helping you implement your routine step by step.
The best way to work through the content is to pick your top 3 hair goals (Module 1), understand your hair profile (Module 2) so you can start implementing a few internal practices (Module 3) and build out your haircare routine (module 4 & 5) and start scheduling it in a way that works for you and your lifestyle (bonus resources & Module 6). After that, you can go back and set new goals and work towards those without overwhelming yourself.
The problem is when we decide to set more than 3 goals at once. It can easily get overwhelming. This is especially true for women that have a family, a stressful job and a range of other responsibilities that us modern women have to carry. I know I wouldn't be able to personally keep up either.
Trying to do it all at once would also require a lot of shopping and changing your whole life around which I can see is something that you unexpectedly experienced during your time with us. I can really feel that you are stressed, and that stress does not help with reaching your hair goals. I am so sorry that you went through this.
The HGL journey is about self-care, carving out that time to expand your knowledge, invest in your wellbeing, and feel empowered and in control of your results and how you feel. We understand now that our students can experience our intentions it in a totally different way. We feel this is especially when you're super motivated to invest in yourself (which is so amazing and you should feel proud of yourself for this), but that just makes it more important for us to take care of our students in the way that they want to be taken care of.
Now it's time for us to get to work and make sure to make it more clear inside the program to avoid something like this happening again in the future.
Would you be able to email us your feedback in detail so we can understand what went wrong? It seems that you found the course materials quite limited and difficult to navigate, and that you struggled to find ingredients in your country. I just want to inform you that we are moving to a new website soon which will be much easier to navigate and we're adding product recommendations for all countries in Europe. However, we know we can do even better so please let us know if there is more that we can do to make things better for students like you.
I just wanted to quickly remind you that our support team is always on hand if you need assistance. So when things aren't working out as you expect, you can always reach out to us for help. We see that we haven't heard from you in a long time and this review comes out of the blue, so we just want to let you know that we were always here and that you don't have to do this alone.
We really value any feedback you can provide as this helps us improve every aspect of the experience. In the end, we're only a one year old company at the time of this writing. We are still a baby, with a lot of flaws like anything else. But we are committed to creating the best online self-care and wellness experience for our customers.
The journey to getting there is a long one, and I'm sure this won't be the last 1 star review we'll receive. We are thankful for each piece of feedback. It can only help us become better, and in turn, it helps you become better too. ❤️

this 14 days challenge it's just an advertisement and lure for her much more expensive course
I quite like the course , I got to learn few interesting things about sulfates and silicones but in my opinion there was too much coaching, on last mission there was for example only talking how hair care products marketing work if it comes to hair oils and totally no knowledge on this topic as she can't tell anything because we must first learn our hair profile, and quess where you can learn it ...of course on her other this time much much more expensive ! course. I really didn't like that . Also few missions were about same topic aka diet , it was made in this way to just take more time. I also didn't like the fact that you can take promised at the beginning of the challenges gift ( after reaching 300 points ) only ! after buying her new very expensive course , but this you will get to learn at the very end ,it's misinformation ! Summarizing this 14 days challenge it's just an advertisement and lure for her much more expensive course.
