Applied for a personal loan. they wanted to know what I was going to use it for. It is a personal loan so not really their business but ok. I told them I wanted to do a little debt consolidation with it. Then they wanted to control the distribution of the loan ? then they wanted to ruin my credit by canceling my best credit card. It's not like I have not been banking here over 2 decades. it's not like I have not had a personal loan with them before which I paid off early. Lucky for me I in no way needed the money it was just something I was thinking about doing. When they offered me about 3/4 of what I asked about I told them Thank you but No Thanks I will either wait another 7 months and do it with out your help or take my business elsewhere.

My experience was decidedly poor when inquiring about refinance options for our home. We are members of the Credit Union, and I was surprised so little care - and even dismissiveness - was shown as I asked for information about refinancing. I was told that they were so busy, they didn't want to work up loan estimates unless I was certainly going with them. When one is trying to inquire about rates, closing costs, etc. it is completely reasonable to ask for estimates in order to ensure you as a consumer are getting competitive rates and terms - Great Basin made me feel like I was not a valued customer, and that is why we have chosen not to increase our current accounts and dealings with you all. Customer service and care should be core to everyone's approach, and sadly, that was not the case in my experience.

I needed to transfer $2000 dollars from my account to my sisters bank in Oregon. The guy at the Sparks branch that was helping me insisted I need the wire transfer information from the other bank inorder for him to help me. Recently at the two other branches I transferred money from my account into two other people's accounts, each was for about $24000. I had no wire transfer information then and I didn't understand why I needed it now. I was upset that the man could not help me and told him I was leaving he didn't really care one way or the other. The next day I went to the East mccarran branch And a gentleman there helped me with no problem whatsoever, it was actually a pretty pleasent experience. Because of the experience I had with the guy at sparks branch I considered very hard on switching banks.

My experience has not been great. I don’t feel that their banking processes are any different or any more beneficial than larger scale banks. I was treated horribly for missing two car payments because I lost my mom to suicide and had a baby in the same week. I was in over my head. GBFCU offered no compassion, no extension, no help, no solutions, no communication just one threat to repo my car on Christmas (after paying consistently for 4 years and no issues). My mortgage company helped (grateful that I didn’t use GBFCU), my credit card company was understanding - It wasn’t that I didn’t have money it was because I was overwhelmed. GBFCU doesn’t care about their customers anymore than any other bank does.

I had a brand new 2018 Chevy that I financed with you guys. It came time to purchase a different vehicle, new truck to be exact. In my own willingness, I wanted to stay with Great Basin while I shopped for a new truck. After applying online it took your staff several days to call me, which the first call was intended in asking several questions on my wanted new vehicle, which is understandable. I waiting several more days for an answer, which I never received. I received a second call to pretty much ask my questions that I had already answered. I went in to my our local GMC and purchased my new truck, with a new bank and with a smoking interest rate. You guys need to understand when someone is looking for a vehicle, they are truly looking for a vehicle. I told the nice lady that I spoke with "I want to stay with Great Basin, but I am not apposed to going to another bank". You guys wanted to beat or match my current loan, but I had given you all the priority at first. Too little to late.

Spent about 30 minutes on with customer service, needed information for account additions, verified and did all the fun stuff, waited on hold a few times and then was to be emailed documentation and information for account addition per the representative... it never happened... this would be the 2nd time I've done this. GBFCU... Get better.

I have a hard time when I go into the bank to pay our (Husband and I) lease. Because I'm listed second on the lease. The counter customer service gives me a hard time every single time I pay. I have to wait at least 5 min or more for them to finally find my name so I can make my payment. Also, I'm not able to create an online account for electronic payments because I'm listed second on the lease. I called customer service who told me "you're not listed first, so it's like your kind of not our first priority."

Wayback when this bank used to be great. However the response to Covid was atrocious. They close down the main lobby’s and made the banks drive-through only. Great plan except the local branch does not have a drive-through. Which means I got to spend a 40 minute round-trip driving anytime I wanted to go to my local branch. Furthermore they limited withdrawals and had no exceptions. In other words if I wanted to withdraw 10K in cash. It would take me five days and approximately three hours of driving. I understand that there has always been a withdrawal limit in place. However by calling ahead you were always able to withdraw whatever you wanted with 48 hours notice.
