Getting used to it
Response from GovAuctionsOct 2, 2026
Glad you're settling in. Our team is always around if a question comes up along the way.

In a true auction, you bid, you lose, you don’t lose your money. You buy the points with your money, you bid, you lose, you should keep your points. They can easily rig their auctions … you think you’ll win, their bot can put in a bid, you lose. Don’t be deceived, there are other ways to acquire goods for cheap. Don’t waste your money. They say “book your points” and they will bid for you towards the end of bidding? How is the auction still ongoing and you don’t have points anymore?

We appreciate you taking the time to lay out your questions. Keeping our auctions fair for every member matters a great deal to us, and the details on how points, bidding, and booked bids work are covered in our FAQ and onboarding walkthrough. Our support team is available around the clock and genuinely happy to go through any of it with you. On top of that, every first purchase is backed by our 100% money-back guarantee so there's no risk in trying us out.

My first auction, and a quick bargain win!
Response from GovAuctionsOct 2, 2026
A bargain win on your very first auction is hard to beat, and we're glad it landed with you. Thanks for sharing the news with us, and we hope the good run keeps going!

I recently downloaded GovAuctions after being led to believe it was an official platform for government surplus items. However, I quickly learned that it is a private company operating a penny auction model. The name "Gov" is highly misleading. The biggest trap is how the bidding works: to place any bid, you must use points that consume your real money credit. If you don't win the auction, those points are gone forever and are absolutely non-refundable. You are just paying for the right to click a button, and you lose that money even if someone else outbids you at the last second. On top of that, if you actually happen to win, you still have to pay the final closing price plus hidden fees. It is mathematically set up for the house to win against you.The only reason I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because their customer service actually honored their 100% money-back guarantee. After realizing how the platform worked, I requested a refund for my point pack ($30) and they processed the reversal within the same day.

Hi Daniel, thank you for taking the time to lay out your experience so thoroughly. While we do feature government surplus items, we're a private company with a mission to make that surplus accessible to everyday people, and we share that openly during signup. Being clear about who we are is something we're genuinely proud of. We're also really glad our support team was able to honor the money-back guarantee the same day you reached out, because standing behind that promise matters just as much to us. If you ever have questions about how any part of the platform works, our team is available around the clock and always happy to walk you through it.

They tried to keep money for auctions not won they are no more than a scam. It clearly stated that monies are returned if nothing is won yet they kept $102.°° I'm so done with that company bunch of cheats!!🤬🤬! After raising concern I finally got my money back and got my account closed,so I'm done with them. Don't want to hear from them again.

We're sorry this has been a frustrating experience, and we'd like to help make things clearer. The FAQ and our onboarding walkthrough both explain how points work when placing bids, and we'd encourage a look through either one. Our first purchase money-back guarantee is also there so anyone can try the platform without risk, and our support team is available around the clock if you'd like to talk it through.

Now that I understand how it works, it’s fun, and if you’re timely you can actually win some of the less sought after items.

It's great to know things made more sense once you got the hang of it, and that the wins have followed. Thanks for sharing your honest take, reach out anytime if a question pops up, and best of luck with your next bid!
