GoTranscript | 100% Human-MadeReviews of gotranscript.com

I was interested in working with GoTranscript as a Somali transcriber. Upon reviewing their guidelines, I noticed that some assignments require including profanity and offensive language. I reached out to their support team multiple times to request projects that are ethical, professional, and free of offensive content. Despite sending clear, polite messages explaining my position, I received no meaningful response. Instead, I received automated replies that did not address my concerns. This lack of communication, combined with guidelines that conflict with personal ethical standards, makes it difficult to trust the platform. I hope GoTranscript improves its support and considers the feedback of applicants who wish to work in a professional and ethical environment.

I appreciate all the work and time that went into this, but the amount of typos/grammatical errors is pretty ridiculous. I can't help but notice the transcriber is not a native English speaker. Also, the speaker's name is often incorrect. I'm finding myself having to go line-by-line to correct all the errors. The point of outsourcing was to not have to take this sort of time.

Started off great, then got shady especially the affiliate program. I won't recommend it to anyone not until they fix it

The test to become a transcriber needs improving. I undertook the practice test that, once completed, gives you feedback as to where you went wrong. I failed because I typed "et cetera." rather than "etc." I have always used "etc." in my own writing, but decided to use "et cetera" in this practice test because the guidelines themselves use "et cetera". I thought using "et cetera" rather than "etc" was strange but if the GoTranscript authors used it this way in the guidelines then I figured that is the form they prefer for the transcription. Also, there is a part of the practice test where it says "Yes, call me b****." You can see here that the speaker has omitted the "a" as it is meant to be "Yes, call me a b****." The guidelines clearly state that you should not correct the speaker's grammar mistakes and therefore you should transcribe the mistake. I did this but I was wrong once again- my feedback said I must include the "a". In my mind this is correcting a grammar mistake which the guidelines explicitly tell you not to do. There are many more examples like this. Maybe I am misunderstanding the rules as I am far from being a good writer/transcriber, in which case please let me know, but many things did not make sense to me.

It's cheaper than some other websites but for Singaporeans please do not use this service. I still had to edit every transcript and for some transcripts I had to edit pretty much every line because likely the transcribers were not familiar with the accent/subject content (medical/nursing terms). Some transcripts were done decently well but as I had a large volume of audio to transcribe (17h) so overall it was still a very painful experience.

Unlike the other transcriptions from English, this one from Japanese is quite confusing and does not make me understand what the real dialogue between the protagonists is. These dialogues are in fact reported in the form of subtitles in a different way also in other languages. I asked you for the transcription from Japanese to find out which was the right one. In reality, completely different and even nonsensical words emerge. All right. From the Japanese I think I will not ask for more transcripts. Greetings.
