Gorillas and Akagera
We had a great experience from beginning to end. Everything was coordinated for us and our driver/guide was organized and flexible. Recommend seeing the Gorillas, staying at 5 Volcanos hotel, and the Rusizi tented lodge in Akagera. Spectacular.

I can’t recommend these guys highly enough...
I have just returned from my return visit to Uganda with the Gorilla Safari Company. This was an extremely special trip with my closest friend so it was really important that all went swimmingly. After my brilliant November trip with GS Co I had quite clear ideas about what I wanted to do to make it perfect. Donna and Amanda were just awesome - they really took the time to understand our very specific requirements and to get the balance right between travel, comfort and cost. They also added some very special elements unprompted that made the whole trip that much more memorable - Donna and Amanda, thank you. The gorilla tracking in Bwindi was out of this world and the road trip a beautiful adventure. Amos our guide gave his very best (as he did the first time) - a lot of over and above effort to ensure we came away with truly awesome memories. I cant recommend these guys highly enough.

An unforgettable experience with unforgettable guides!
I think if you're coming to this page, you already know you want to and should go on this amazing adventure. And you're absolutely right. I would do it again in a heartbeat, if not for the incredible run-ins with nature (I never thought I'd have gorillas brushing past my legs and being told "don't move"), then for the amazing people.
On my trek, we were fortunate enough to track down a family of 23 gorillas – including two silverbacks and a number of babies – and we actually came face to face with 15 of them. The guides were extremely knowledgeable, guiding us safely through a bamboo forest, where the likes of elephants and buffalo also roam, for over an hour before we came across the first gorilla. We then spent an hour co-existing with them, staying a safe distance but close enough to get pictures that will be worth coming back to for the rest of your life.
Even paramount to the incredible nature were the people running the Gorilla Safari Company. I decided two days before the Safari that I wanted to go, which could've posed a problem since the government requires some sort of permitting before allowing someone into the reserve. The team was so helpful, hopping into gear, communicating regularly throughout the day, before delivering the good news that they were able to make it work. And our driver was one of the kindest, most caring men I have ever come across (we are still in contact to this day!). He spent the whole day making calls trying to track down a native mineral specimen for me to take back home, stopped with us for lunch (bought us shoes along the way), and even allowed us to visit the Rwandan cycling team's HQ because he had a connection there.
If you're anywhere near Rwanda, do this lifechanging trip.

Amazing m trek in Uganda
Amazing m trek in Uganda, lodge in Bwindi had lovely staff and outstanding views.
Gorgeous hotel in Rwanda, food was exceptional.
Perhaps make a plan for the afternoon on the first day.

The Gorilla trek was AMAZING…
The Gorilla trek was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. To see the gorillas was a dream come true. Our driver Kevin, was extremely friendly, and told us a great deal about Rwanda, the people, and the adventure we were to expect. Due to his connections, he helped get us placed into the best Gorilla family, and ensured no stone was left unturned. On the way back, he went the extra mile to help us get clean, get fed, and travel home in gran style. Kevin stayed an extra 45 minutes to take one of our team to the airport, which was not part of the plan. And, Amanda helped to arrange a last minute person change for the trek. This change made it possible to not lose our paid for spot, and from what I hear, she pulled off a miracle. We are beginning to think about our next visit, and for sure will use the Gorilla Safari company for our next experience!
