Goldend Gate completely lied to use about the shipping arrangement then tried to bully us into paying double what was agreed.
Golden Gate Relocation was misleading and completed lied about the moving arrangements. Tried to charge us double when they arrived. Arrived with a "Budget" rental truck, could not or would not provide us with any documentation i.e DL's, company paperwork, insurance, Bill of Lading, etc. The driver said our furniture woudl be offloaded and reloaded onto another truck etc. We did not use them and they are refusing to refund our deposit. Would state fare away

A moving horror story came to life
A moving horror story came to life. I gave Golden Gate Relocation a “1 Star” because there was nothing lower. I hired this company to move me from California to Texas. I expressed my concerns about the horror stories I had heard but they assured me that they were a reputable company. In hindsight, I would gladly accept one of those horror stories in exchange for the one I experienced with this shady company. Well moving day arrived and low and behold came the "well this is going to cost you more" spiel. Of course, they know you are backed into a corner. I mean you must move so what are your options?? I paid he extra $1,400+. Then came the delivery day. WOW!!!!! I was shocked at how many very large and expensive items had gone missing. Makes you ask, “what happened to these items?”. And then the damage to the items that were delivered was incredible. I am not talking about slight damage or nicks and dings; I am talking about major significant damage that clearly shows my property was thrown around causing heavy impact damage. Well, I contacted Golden Gate Relocation and they said I would need to file a claim. Now keep in mind that I had to pay $150 extra for one of the items because it was classified as "oversize", which never showed up. I filed the claim and to my disbelief the settlement offer to make this nightmare right was, get this, $81. Well, they did up the settlement amount to $206 and then again to $500 but that was it. If you want to hire a reputable moving company, then this is NOT the one you want to use. As God is my witness, PLEASE stay far, far away from this company. You WILL certainly be very disappointed and Golden Gate Relocation, since already got their money, they will not be there to resolve anything for you. When I asked for people’s name that are in charge they refused to provide this information, I wonder why??
Their response is pitiful. They say they won't give "personal information"??? I never asked for personal information. I asked for the name and title of the person in charge so that if I pursue this in court, I have a person to put on the subpoena. I had numerous large and expensive items mysteriously disappear and many others that were severely damaged and they want to offer $500 to make it right? A pathetic shame that a company is so out of control and careless and the customer is the one that pays. They have a pretty good racket going on for sure.

We are very sorry for the customers experience. We did our best to prevent this from happening. Please see below.
1) The customer told us he was putting 171 pieces of furniture on the truck. On move day the customer had 200 pieces of furniture.
2) The customer was told on 3 separate occasions about purchasing additional insurance. He declined. He did not want to pay a deductible and didn't want to accept our $500 offer. We did our best to resolve to issue. He demanded $2000.
3) We aren't giving you personal information because you could be a registered sex offender or some kind of convicted felon. We understand we are moving personal belongings for our customers and customers take it personally. We won't put our family's in any kind of danger.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Move on your own, despite the challenges. This company isn't worth your time or money due to their unprofessionalism.
To start my journey, I spoke with Scottie. He is your typical salesman trying to show you the amazingness of the company. I will say he did walk me through the contract well enough so this company can’t say I can’t read or something (which is how they respond to people feel free to read their comments - that is how every interaction is with these people). Based on the contract and speaking with Scottie they mentioned that “Furniture pads will be used”, “We don’t broker out ANY services”, “Customer Service is amazing” all of which are actually lies. They contract out the movers in each location, furniture pads were not used on my furniture like the contract stated since I have a lot of scratches/damage on all my furniture, and dealing with Whitney is a masterclass of someone whose sole job is customer service but actually hates dealing with any people. After dealing with Scottie, I wasn’t too scared of dealing with this company - I read the reviews but nothing terrible recently had been happening so I was like ok I need to move this is a decent company with some decent pricing. It turned sour so quickly. You are given a 2 day window for when movers will arrive - I called ahead to ask when I might be able to know more and they said call the first day the movers might come to see if you are on their route. OK - I called, Whitney answered the phone and promptly HUNG UP ON ME. I called back and left a message asking for someone to call back. No one did. I received a call from the movers around 6:30pm that they would be coming by to pick up my items. I met the worst movers that day. They all were tired after a long day of moving stuff to be expected but not when they are handling my stuff. I watched them DROP ALL OF MY STUFF as they moved it out of my apartment. I knew this wasn’t going to end well at this point. They didn’t tag my items there, they didn’t go over the inventory NOTHING. The next day I received a text from GGR that they were on my way to pick my stuff up. I later received an email from Whitney about sharing my experience so far and what to expect and if I’d like to share feedback “We have a brief 5 question feedback survey on your pick up experience. If you would like to provide feedback contact our team at 800- 673-1135 Monday- Friday 10am-6pm Eastern Standard Time”. Well I asked if I could provide feedback via email since I had a really bad experience & when I could expect my stuff - Scottie had mentioned something about Aug 17th. I just received this email “ Your FADD (first available delivery date) was provided as 8/9 . Your ESTIMATED delivery window is 3-21 BUSINESS DAYS from that window. We will advise when the goods are assigned to a delivery route.” This is Customer Service.
Well I finally get notified by Jill that my stuff will be delivered - I will say Jill is probably the nicest person I’ve dealt with at this company. All good, make my final payments. The day they deliver - They are late and keep texting me asking if items are mine or not. When I get my items the 2 guys who delivered are nice enough but I start to notice I’m missing a ton of items - and not cheap items either. They lost my TV Stand so I have my TV but nothing to attach it to, they broke a box mid-shipment and didn’t tell me but repacked some items it places they clearly didn’t belong with items that are not mine. They lost entire boxes, metal shelving units, etc. I wasn’t a happy camper but maybe just maybe they can find my stuff. I called and emailed but Whitney was on PTO (which is fine) but the company should not have the only customer service line go to someone’s inbox while they are on PTO. That's just terrible business practice. I was able to get Jim’s number to chat about my missing items and he asked how I was doing and I said terribly, because missing items, and he was taken aback. Am I supposed to be happy with the company that has 1 job of moving items from point A to point B lost my stuff? I keep emailing them an updated list of items I am missing and they have the audacity to short with me about how they will get back in 24-72 hours. Well they just did and they are “sorry they can’t find my items”. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company. If you did however work with these people - literally label everything yourself or color code it or something. I do hope that everyone at this company, if they ever should move, enjoys this experience for themselves.
So after I wrote this review, I was called by the Whitney within 10 min to "help locate my items and look into this". During that call i was told because I wrote this review I would not be able to file a claim. The company ghosted me and never called me back. I still have someone else's stuff.

Hi Audrey, we are sorry for your experience. Jim and Jill are on in the customer service que in our phone system. You must have been dialing Whitney's direct line.
We would have gladly worked with you to replace the few boxes, to stand and bar stool you were missing but you have renters insurance. If there's anything we can do for you in the future please let us know.

Regrettably
Regrettably, I had a very disappointing experience with this company, and I cannot recommend their services AT ALL.
I was initially informed that my move would take approximately two at most three weeks. However, it ended up taking an astonishing 30 business days (6 weeks). The delay in delivery was not the only issue, as several of my belongings were damaged in the process. My TV, two chairs, bicycles, BBQ, and expensive coffee machine among other items, were rendered unusable upon arrival.
When I filed a claim for compensation, the company only offered a mere $81 for the extensive damages. Even more frustratingly, they agreed to pay this amount only after a two-month delay.
If you value timely delivery and the quality of service, I would advise against using this company for your moving needs.

Horrible move
Horrible move, doubled the price before packing, etc etc. Golden Gate Relocation (GGR). EXTRA CHARGES at every turn and the WORST pick up packers ever. They did a willy nilly job, ruined a lot of pieces with their tape. Broken antiques. Apalling customer service.
I helped a friend move and we were apalled at how much was broken and damages. Thus after waiting more than a week for load to arrive. She was too busy dealing with the aftermath to post reviews, so I told her I would, but she did call customer service and got no help, so i doubt she wants to call again.

Title: A Disastrous Experience with Golden Gate Relocation
Unfortunately it's not possible to provide zero stars. I am writing this review after a thoroughly disappointing experience with Golden Gate Relocation. We recently moved from Cupertino, CA to Nashville, TN, transporting our personal belongings and the furniture from our small one-bedroom apartment. Despite being assured by the Sale agent that the truck drivers and movers were in-house staff, we found out that they were merely contractors.
The movers lacked the necessary tools to disassemble and reassemble our furniture, leading to my boyfriend having to step in and assist - a situation that should never have occurred. The incompetence didn't stop there. We were overcharged for space, billed for 1,100 cubic feet when only 648 cubic feet were utilized.
Our belongings were handled with utter disregard. A small bag containing heavy scuba weights (30 lbs) was irresponsibly placed on top of a stacked pile, resulting in the destruction of an expensive bin, damage to a high-end bike, and a ruined desk.
Our expensive bed with drawers was mishandled to the point of damage. The bed frame was missing screws, the headrest and footrest were damaged, and the drawers no longer fit properly. Our bookshelves and desk were permanently damaged, and a recycle bin was damaged to the point of causing me a leg injury.
To add insult to injury, we were charged for wrapping materials that were never used. The movers even used our own bubble wrap to secure the glass from the damaged desk. Despite not owning a mirror, we were inexplicably charged for mirror wrapping. The original estimate of $5,300 ballooned to an outrageous $8,200 due to charges for unused packing materials, additional fuel, and other inexplicable fees.
On the pickup day, the movers arrived a day later than expected, and without even assessing our belongings, they immediately claimed that our goods would not fit in the agreed space and that we owe them additional money. Jim called the day before the drop off asking to pay before the movers would arrive, as opposite as what we were told. The movers arrived 20 days later than expected and were very unprofessional.
The customer care service completely lack of empathy.
In summary, our experience with Golden Gate Relocation was nothing short of a nightmare. The lack of professionalism, care, and transparency has left us with damaged goods, unexpected costs, and a bitter taste in our mouths. I strongly advise against using their services.
N.B. GGR is trying to block many bad reviews, holding onto anything they can.

Nightmare Experience All Around
Poor communication, disturbing pickup experience, damaged items, no real recourse for a claim.
The movers did not communicate to me until 5pm on the day of the move (I was told to be on hand, and took off work to do so. I could have worked had I known they wouldn't show up.) At 5pm they said they'd arrive at 7-9pm. When 9pm came and went with no word, I prepared for bed. They then arrived at 10:30pm reeking of weed.
Then no word for three weeks. Only a single text informing me that they would have an ETA for me in the next 24 hours. That turned into days, as the person handling my move (by her own voluntary admission) went on vacation. I was given a Friday window between 4-6pm.
On Saturday I went to an appointment, still having not heard a peep from the movers. They contacted me while I was out to inform me they were 15 minutes away and that I should hurry.
My belongings were damaged; I was handed one of my bookshelves in stick form. My sideboard has one side crushed and is completely unrepairable and unusable. I was directed to file a claim with movingclaims.net.
This site is a scam, frankly. I wouldn't be surprised if it was operated by the same people.

Moving is SO stressful and GGR made it 10x WORSE!
I recently hired Golden Gate Relocation for my move, and unfortunately, my experience with them was far from satisfactory. There were several significant issues that marred the entire process.
1. ESTIMATE: Initially, I was impressed by the salesman’s courteous demeanor and patience during the estimation process. However, despite clearly expressing my preference for an overestimate to avoid budget constraints, the final bill ended up being almost double the quoted price. This significant discrepancy of over $3,700 was financially burdensome and completely unexpected.
2. PICKUP DAY: The pickup day experience was less than ideal. The crew's late arrival and their subsequent departure for an extended dinner break were frustrating and inconvenient. Dinner could have been done on their own time and not mine. The rescheduling of the work to the next day caused further inconvenience, and the packing method employed resulted in a chaotic and disorganized unpacking experience. My husband was within 5-10 minutes walking while they were loading the entire time, available at the drop of a dime if needed but they asked him to let them do the work and to leave the unit while packing. My daughter and I were never there as I didn't want a two year old in unsafe conditions of furniture out of place and heavy items that could possibly tip. My husband was there to sign the paperwork before they left, the foreman failed to do a final inspection with my husband.
3. FORGOTTEN STUFF: One of the primary reasons I opted for a full pack service was the expectation that all my belongings would be packed and ready for delivery. Unfortunately, I found that several essential items, including kitchenware and cleaning supplies, were left behind. This lack of attention to detail was disappointing and inconvenient. If I'm booking a full pack I expect the people who are packing to walk around and open every cabinet to make sure they got everything, that responsibility doesn't fall on me the paying customer.
4. DELIVERY: The delivery process was the most disappointing aspect of my entire experience. Despite specifying the desired delivery date as June 30th, I later learned that this only marked the first available date for delivery, not the actual delivery date. Consequently, my items were delivered a week later, leaving me in an empty house and incurring additional costs for alternative accommodations. Moreover, during the unloading process, the moving crew damaged my new house, including my entryway door frame, and failed to inform me about it.
5. CUSTOMER SERVICE: My attempts to address these issues with the company's customer service representative, were met with resistance and argumentation. Her refusal to acknowledge the extent of the problems and the lack of accountability left me feeling disregarded and unheard.
In conclusion, my experience with Golden Gate Relocation was marred by inaccurate estimates, delayed deliveries, careless packing practices, and inadequate customer service. The subsequent discovery of broken items upon unboxing and the unreported damages to my new house only added to my disappointment. Regrettably, without any satisfactory resolution, I feel compelled to share my negative experience with others to caution them from encountering similar issues with this moving company.
Added note - Once my claim was processed through "my moving claims" I was offered $60 (my claim was well over $3k)... before they pay me any sum of money though I am required to remove any bad review I have posted about them. SO BE AWARE the good reviews are probably fake and the bad reviews are peoples honest experiences who aren't being "paid off" to remove their honest experiences.

1.) The client added over 100 pieces to her initial estimate therefore the price went up. 2.) The client was not even at the pick up location at the time of the pick up/ and yes these gentlemen do have to eat and rehydrate and it was late in the day so the work re-started the following morning, 3.) The client and her husband were not present at pick up but at the park with their child and did not do a final walk through with the team but had a neighbor tell them a few days later that things were left in cabinets. 4.) Delivery information is disclosed A.) booking B.) welcome email C.) verification call and email D. client provides at time of pick up. The disappointment should be in the client refusing to read the contract in which he/she has signed AND the subsequent calls, texts and emails regarding move communication.
5.) Customer service spoke with the client and asked if she had received the various communications; it was not argumentative but it was firmly stated that the client did not read documentation regarding her move. Ms. Morgan was also told at that time that the claims process allowed her 9 months to file and GGR had 90 days to respond. She has not allowed that time to complete the process .
