Absolutely horrible company. I will advise against working with them. They’ve ruined or misplaced items inside my home and are now brushing me off to someone named WB who they are claiming isn’t available. My family and I will not become another victim to this company. We will not rest until something is done to help not only us but everyone who has been wronged by this company!

Golden Gate Relocation is a unprofessional company to hire
Golden Gate Relocation is a company that appears to prioritize financial gain over customer satisfaction. Initially, I was given a quote of $3,400.00 based on the items I intended to move. However, upon the arrival of the movers, the supervisor conducted a review of all the items to be transported. While I did add a few additional boxes, the increase in quantity did not warrant the drastic change in my worst-case charge, which suddenly escalated to $7,400.00. Even after deciding to leave behind a dresser and a few boxes, I was still billed the exorbitant amount of $7,400.00.
Subsequently, the movers attempted to deliver my belongings at an inconvenient hour of 12 am and demanded the remaining payment in cash before unloading. I requested they return the following day due to the late hour. Upon their return the next day, I observed that my large furniture had sustained damage during the unloading process. What was even more distressing was the harm inflicted on the drywall of my new home and the breakage of an interior stair light fixture.
The insurance provided at a rate of $0.60 per pound proved to be misleading and insufficient. The total weight of the damaged furniture amounted to 456 lbs, which should have corresponded to a settlement of $273.60. However, MovingClaims, the insurance company, offered a mere $75.00 in compensation, completely disregarding the substantial damages inflicted upon my residence, which I had to cover out of my own pocket for repairs. Despite three attempts to address the issue, their responses were dismissive, ultimately stating, "At this stage, our company's involvement has concluded."
Additionally, I was left with shipping boxes that did not belong to me and contained valuable items. In good faith, I reached out to the company to arrange for the return of these items.
If you are willing to risk being overcharged and potentially experiencing damage to your home, you may choose to book with Golden Gate Relocation. However, I am confident that you can find a more reputable and professional company for your moving needs.

We don't agree with this review. Please see below
1) The customer told us he 61 items on his signed estimate. He put 135 items on the truck. The customer didn't add a few extra boxes.
2) We showed up at 5:00, not midnight.
3) We haven't received any pictures of any dry wall
4) The customers was given the option for additional insurance but chose the 60 cents per pound option.
We love our customers and have no problem doing everything we can to make them happy however when you add more then double the inventory and claim you added a few boxes we can't work with you.

Movers were careless in handling items
Movers were careless in handling items, broke lamp covers. Upon arrival, things were missing, broken and severely scratched. Can't put up my beds as frames are missing. No apologies just fill out the claim form and wait 90 days for a decision. Some items were antics, boxes had fragile written on them but came with gaping holes torn in them. The final truck came with no lift, movers were handing the down from high back of the truck. Do NOT Use This Company. Hires friends, use a moving truck and load it yourself!

We are very sorry about this customers experience. The customer was told verbally on his verification call and on his signed estimate and bill of lading about a shuttle fee. Every moving company in the country charges if the 53 ft semi can't get to delivery. The customer was being delivered to a storage unit. The customer could have called his storage unit and found out of it has trailer access.
We are extremally sorry about the customers antique desk. We are understand how frustrating losing a sentimental item can be. We offer all customers the ability to purchase additional insurance in the unlikely event an item is lost or damaged. We wish this customer the best of luck in the future

Lots of Deception and Unethical company
Update:
They contacted me a week after I left this review and asked me to fill out a claim. It has been 6 months. No answer whatsoever. I still stand by my original rating.
-------
I used Golden Gate Relocation. My first call was with Sales person who promised me that they use their own trucks. He also showed me Safer Web web site and it has 15 Million miles in 2022 but this company has only 7 trucks. Math does not add up. Being a first time customer moving from coast to coast, I believed him. He even gave me 15% off. I gave a complete inventory of what I was planning to take and he calculated 900 cubic feet. When they gave me initially quote, they under estimated the cubic footage with my inventory. The add a line in the contract saying that it is only an estimate and subject to change.
After the initial estimate, I decided to not take my Treadmill, 4 book cases and was thinking that it would bring down another 100+ cubic feet. But when the actual truck came, they said it only calculate with the lines in the truck and after packing with paper, it came to 1150 cubic feet. Now I had to pay 40% more on top of the initial estimate.
They also verified my origin and destination addresses and confirmed that the Semi Truck will fit on the destination side. But they outsourced this to a different company and Customer support Whitney sent a message telling me to pay $1300 in cash to the driver , otherwise he will not deliver. Who keeps $1300 cash. I had to rush to bank two days in a row to get the cash. Now I had to deal with a driver who does not speak English. He only spoke Russian and he told me that it would not fit (Not true by the way. My car was delivered to my street and it came in a 18 wheel truck) and I had to pay $900 more to deliver to my home. If not, he will deliver it to a storage and I will have to transport it myself. When I asked about reassembling of the furniture, he said that it was not his problem.
I had no choice but accept for additional $900. He brought my stuff in a UHaul truck with a helper off the street and delivered my items. He put the Full size bed frame to King size headboard and mixed up parts for bed. When I asked him to fix it, he was angry at me. He threw all the wrapping paper and trash in garage( It filled half my garage with moving material). When I asked him to take it with him, he got angry and left without even verifying the items that he delivered. I did not even sign the paper that confirms that they delivered. When I called the customer support, they didnot answer and when I texted, Whitney responded that she will call the next day. She never did.
In the conclusion, I paid almost double the money without getting all the services they promised. I had to assemble half of my furniture myself. There is practically zero customer support. It is my Week 2 in the new location and I still cannot wrap my head around how unethical this company is.

Lost 50% of my belongings
Golden Gate Relocation has had half of my belongings for 35 days and can’t tell us where they are. I called multiple times a week and asked them to check the warehouse. They kept saying “give us 48-72 hours” finally they stopped giving me a time frame. Then couldn’t tell me anything. It has been 23 days since I notified them. When the movers came, I couldn't reach anyone because it was a weekend. They never had me sign to say I got my stuff.
After reaching out again today they texted me my stuff wasn’t in the warehouse. It took 23 days just to be told they have no idea where it is. They responded they are “checking with other deliveries.” I was told on September 11th they were doing that too.
I’ve left voicemails asking to have their bosses call me. They just text. It’s not often they answer the phone.
It is literally over half my stuff. 14 boxes, 3 tubs, a tv, a shop vac, a microwave, a table, a snowboard, a garbage can, the legs and cord to 2 TVs. We are missing all my husbands clothes, half of mine, almost all our shoes, a majority of our decor, our wedding vows, a majority of our glassware, my books, all of my dogs stuff and so much more.
This is the worst experience I’ve had with any company. They just text saying they are “looking for it.” It’s been weeks and I was just told it’s not in a warehouse. We’ve had to buy so many new things that are essential to living because they lost it. Horrible communication, unhelpful customer service representatives, and unreliable company. We paid close to $4,000 to be treated horribly and not have half our goods. It has been a nightmare working with this company. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Golden Gate Relocation picked my items up in California on May 29 and delivered them on June 29. They offered disassembly & reassembly of basic furniture, loading at pick-up & unloading at delivery and blankets, pads, belts, ties, & straps for added protection of furniture. I paid $3150 for this service. When they arrived they did not use blankets, pads or straps; instead, they threw everything into the truck. They promised it would be repacked at the consolidation facility. For the next month I had no idea where my furniture was; all that wonderful salesmanship went out the window. When the items were delivered, people to unpack my items did not show up for 2 hours and tried to get me to pay more money. My items were not packed cleanly in the truck, no padding or pallets to hold them together. Multiple items were interspersed with the next delivery.
During the move in, I recognized that 6 major high-value items were missing and three things were severely damaged. My tack trunk was dented, scratched, had severe black sticky residue all 4 sides and was clearly stepped on multiple times. My 200 year old Antique Shaker wood table was destroyed. The company never apologized and the company they used for my claim offered me $60 as compensation because I selected $0.60/per pound damage/loss despite providing excessive documentation of the damage. Forget getting them on the phone unless you do report them to the BBB when they will call you (Whitney) and tell you you can't do that. I am still fighting this claim valuing damage/loss of over $9000.
10/2/23 update: I have received two voicemails from GGR about my move since this post asking for me to call back. If you write a poor review they will call you and it will not be to apologize or offer you money.

The customer was explained the delviery process multiple times. The 1st day the customer was able to accept delivers was June 7th. From that day going to Louisiana from Sacramento we have 3-21buiness days.
The Customer was delivered 12 business days (June 23rd). Below is a text the customer received
please let us know status of my move. In 9 days we have breach of contract to deliver in 3-21 days. Thank you
No we would not be in breech of contract it is an ESTIMATED delivery window. (copied from your estimate) All Long Distance delivery services are made on a flexible basis with an estimated arrival time:
0 - 500 miles: 0 - 6 business days.
501 - 1000 miles: 1 - 10 business days.
1001 - 1500 miles: 2 - 14 business days.
1501 - 3300 miles: 3 - 21 business days.
I have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions stated above:
Golden Gate Relocation was very clear in advising the client the terms of liability for damages and missing items.
1.) her written estimate signed at booking (this document addresses liability in three different places; the first time begins with the word "WARNING"
2.) 5/23 she received a welcome email that states : "
3.) Valuation Options: Golden Gate Relocation Basic Liability of $0.60 per pound per article at no charge. If any article is lost, destroyed or damaged while in your mover`s custody, your mover`s liability is limited to the actual weight of the lost, destroyed or damaged article multiplied by $0.60 cents per pound per article. This is the basic liability level and is provided to you at no charge. It is considerably less than the average value of household goods.
If you have homeowner’s insurance we recommend you discuss moving insurance with them directly. If you do not have homeowner’s insurance you can contact Baker International Insurance Co. at 800-356-0093 at least 5 days prior to your move date to purchase coverage. " and the
4) Was 6/12 a phone call in which she spoke to a representative of the company and an email after the call. Golden Gate goes beyond the normal contractual requirements for a move and the client was aware of this liability clause.

Do you trust a company with 50% bad reviews
I have had a bad and ongoing experience with Golden Gate Relocation. I have written a review on this site about this company and will continue to do so to perspective buyers a heads up on my experience and the support and customer service given to me. As of going on two and one half months now, the company has not reached to me to other than to say file a claim for damages. I have been charged for services not completed, damaged the house I moved into, lost what appears to be a third of my property at a value of thousands of dollars and that does not take in to consideration sentimental items you could not carry with you that are lost? There appears to be an entire vault , its called that is in the warehouse or delivered and not tracked by the company to another destination. Anyway, I suggest you look at the percent of happy versus unhappy reviews on this site and make up your mind.

We've asked the customer to file a claim for all lost or damaged property. He declined.
We do agree with the customer to do your research on moving company's. Every company, person, etc does make mistakes. Unfortunately it's a part of life. We would love the opportunity to make it right as we have with many other customer's. We have over 90% positive reviews across different sites. However those customer's gave us a chance to correct the mistake.
