Save yourself from the EF tours horrid experience
Upon arriving home, l immediately contacted EF about my experience. Overall, I thought this trip Nickle & dimed me. From the constant asking for tips, to having to pay additionally for all the extra activities, no dinners included in Rome, paying extra euros each day for more bus tours & a beach club stop. I paid about $8,000 USD total combined. I did the Rome extension which was the better part of the trip. But I had to book my own Colosseum tour through Viator for $95 euros. EF overcharged us for the flights & hotels considering this was the end of the season. I researched everything during the actual tour. The pools at the hotel were 30 degrees, it was cold, all the shops were closing, hotels were closing after we checked out. We received the bare minimum experience. The food was sub par, coffee tasted like dish washer soap with watered down Folgers. For Europe, I'm appalled. I found better breakfast & coffee at McDonald's & Starbucks. 2 of my Greece activities were cancelled last minute with no substitutions offered. Spent most days with "free time" sitting in my hotel room. The hotel in Rome had mold on the ceilings, sewage smell coming from the drains. And the most annoying part was flying back to Athens from Santorini, taking a 40 min bus to the hotel, only to have a team farewell dinner then turn back around the next morning, take that same 40 mins bus to the airport to fly to Rome. Wasted an entire day. Additionally, the tour director specifically took us to shops where he received a commission and this was very apparent. When I did my first Europe trip last year with EF I was so excited to book again based on the success of that one but now I don't want to book anymore with a travel company. I'd rather do it all myself and save time & money. This was a trip l'd rather forget and move on with my life. EF offered me a $300 future travel credit if I book another trip with them. No thanks. That’s all you offer for a horrible experience?
