I am trying to finish an exam in this exact moment. It has been 7 hours. I have never been so frustrated in my ENTIRE life. Absolute TRASH.

Proctoru is the number one example of why technology is ruining education. Just another excuse for lazy teachers/professors to be lazy. My exam for an IN PERSON CLASS was through proctoru and was written for an online class.... which in my opinion is not fair at all. On top of that, my proctor changed half way through my test (one person couldn't wait 30 minutes for me to finish an exam..? k.) The setting up process is ridiculous. I had to clear everything off my desk (no like paper and stuff, I'm talking drinks, my pencil holder, MY FAN???). I'm not sure how they expect us to have a completely empty desk when we are taking this exam from home (be it a dorm, bedroom, apartment, or wherever). After I finished my exam, I asked my proctor questions to make sure it was submitted correctly and I got an automated message that did not help me at all.... Reached out to the chat box, got a bot that couldn't understand my question and asked me to "rephrase" is about 5 times before connecting me to a real person. I took a survey (first and last name, email, first time using proctoru, what my question was--again, ect.) when the real person finally got on, they asked what my question was.... and then my first and last name and email to confirm my account..... which... I just did. They told me to reconnect with my proctor and enter a 4 didget code (which I don't have), and then ended the chat.... F*** ProctorU.

I have used proctoru several times in college for my online classes. Every time I have used it has been different but definitely not good experiences. The most recent time I did it, they told me to reboot my computer because apparently something was blocking them from using my mouse. When I connected to the proctor after some time, she seemed unprofessional and did not communicate well. She was laughing with someone as I was talking to her. Not only that but she was so quiet and kept cutting out multiple times so I had to keep asking her to repeat what she said because I couldn’t hear a word she was saying. She seemed rude and just didn’t communicate well enough. I kept getting disconnected from the server so I couldn’t message my proctor. I felt so violated and uncomfortable with them taking control of my computer and messing with things on it. It just seems like a huge invasion of privacy. Proctoru gives me so much anxiety and it sucks.

I have used ProctorU several times throughout my college career, and every session has been a major headache. The last session, however, was beyond headache-inducing, in fact, it not only gave me a near migraine, but it was part of the reason why I did not make a higher grade. Not only has this "service" been a major reason for my stress, especially around midterms and finals, but it has also been a breach of my privacy. They "invade" your room, asking to show off your entire room. They control your monitor, and their extension for the browsers requires a ridiculous amount of permissions. Some stranger, with a fake American name, with a thick Indian accent, just screams the type of scenario for a common scam. That's exactly how this "service" feels to me. I am putting service in quotation marks as they do not even earn the respect for me to call them a service. They're just a forced requirement usually implemented as a lazy attempt for universities to offer online classes. That you then have to pay for. 1 Star is a very generous rating.

Why are they still around if they are this bad.

I am a current MBA online student. This is my 6th class. Proctor U needs to make improvements. The proctors are inconsistent with their pre-exam checks. Today, I was asked to use my cell phone, put in "selfie" mode, and show the proctor my phone so that they can see the room better??? What?! Never asked this before. The proctors have some type of power trip going on. The tech support is lazy. The proctors are unprofessional. Proctor u is a great idea, and it could be great for distance learners, but the proctors are ruining it. They should maybe reconsider who they hire (this should be a simple job). They seem to face no consequences for their unprofessionalism. I would not recommend that another institution use this service.

Trying to write an exam for over an hour now and they cannot seem to connect me. The first proctor could not find my name and cannot figure out how to connect me. I am on my third transfer and am on hold on my phone. Over an hour so far just to start my exam this is horrible and stressful.

For clarification, they are worthy of ZERO stars and should be shut down permanently. Incompetence permeates the workforce there. That's of course if you can understand what the hell they're saying. I shouldn't have to ask 4 and 5 times for a repeat of what is said. Maybe some native English speakers might change the dynamics. I shouldn't have to remove ONE post-it on a wall, especially when I'm skill testing, nor a printer and scanner. Scan the desk FIVE times, FIVE. An hour after the test time and I lost my patience. And these nobody losers are going to notify my organization that I'm uncooperative. Have at it. I beat you to it. That breadth of stupidity and incompetence really should be illegal.
