Within weeks of declaring that "Glyde Solar is not out of business, not filing for bankruptcy, and not experiencing financial distress," Glyde's website now admits that "we are no longer accepting new sales opportunities. We will finish all existing projects and will do our best to assist existing customers during this transition."
The sun seems to have set on Glyde Solar.

I had my system installed in Sep 2022
I had my system installed in Sep 2022. My installation only provides about 50% of my power needs. The assessment was overly underrated! Complete waste of money.
I have contacted Glyde Solar in the past and received no responses. On the reviews, they say they would like to look into the issue, but they never follow through.
A colleague of mine had an installation done by Photon Brothers. His production is 2-3 times more than mine.
Choose carefully when going solar!
Response from Glyde SolarDec 16, 2025
Guy, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We take feedback seriously, especially when a customer feels disappointed.
A few important clarifications based on your actual project data:
Your system was designed as a 6.57 kW system with an estimated annual production of 9,455 kWh.
The design offset was 78.8%, not 100%. This means the system was never intended to cover all household consumption, which is clearly disclosed during the design and contract phase.
Production estimates are based on historical utility usage, roof geometry, shading, orientation, and local irradiance data, not assumptions.
Comparing your system to a colleague’s system is not an apples-to-apples comparison. System size, roof layout, usage profile, and location all materially impact production. A system producing 2–3x more power would, by definition, need to be significantly larger or installed under materially different conditions.
Regarding communication:
We do respond to service inquiries, but we do not see an unresolved open ticket tied to this concern. If something was missed, that is on us, and we want to correct it.
Most importantly:
Your system passed inspection, achieved activation, and ultimately reached PTO. If actual production is materially underperforming relative to the modeled estimate, that is something we can objectively review using inverter-level production data.
We are happy to:
Review your actual production versus expected output.
Confirm whether any shading, usage changes, or post-install variables are impacting performance.
Walk through the original design assumptions transparently.
Please contact us directly at [email protected]
with your project address so we can formally reopen the review and address this with facts and data, not assumptions.
We stand by our designs, but we also stand by our customers when something doesn’t look right.

Shop around don’t settle for Glyde
Salesman was extremely kind and said that our system and storage could easily power our AC unit and other things. When this was put to the test during Hurricane Beryl, that proved to be dangerously false.
This misunderstanding literally put me and my family in danger. We lucked out and were only without power for a little over a week but my house ended up getting up to 90F inside. This system was very expensive and it only seems to be able to run a fridge.
I am now looking into what legal options I have because clearly we were mislead and Glyde refuses to accommodate anything. I called numerous times to only get an email that essentially was summed up to: you need additionally battery storage. It took 4 months to get that response.
Run. Do not just walk away from these people, run.
Response from Glyde SolarOct 23, 2025
Bryant, we’re sorry to hear about your experience during Hurricane Beryl. After reviewing your system and service history, the equipment is operating correctly. Your setup includes a single 10 kWh battery, which is designed to back up essential circuits such as lights, outlets, and refrigeration — not central air-conditioning.
A central AC requires significantly more instantaneous power than a single home battery can supply. This isn’t a malfunction but a limitation of the system’s capacity. We’ve offered to review your backed-up circuits and provide options if you’d like to expand backup capability in the future.
If you’d like a technical explanation or upgrade quote, please reach out directly to [email protected]
so we can help.

Their employees are pests
They’re independent contractors or employees are going around knocking on doors when there’s clearly a no soliciting sign and have no regard for it.
Response from Glyde SolarJun 20, 2025
We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, and I’m genuinely sorry that our team’s visit caused frustration.
To clarify, our representatives are indeed independent contractors, and we strive to train them to be respectful and compliant with all neighborhood guidelines, including “No Soliciting” signs. If someone overlooked that, it’s not acceptable and we’ll address it directly with the team in your area.
Please feel free to share your location with us privately so we can ensure it doesn’t happen again. Your experience matters, and we take it seriously.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

When I decided I didn't want their services (which would have cost me $20k more than any other company) they sent me a four figure bill and threatened a lien on my house if I didn't pay all because I decided to use one of their competitors.
Response from Glyde SolarDec 27, 2024
Thank you for sharing your concerns. We take feedback seriously and want to address this directly.
Upfront costs, including design, permitting, and administrative fees, are standard in our agreements. The bill reflects these incurred costs, and liens are a common legal recourse for unpaid balances.
However, we’re unable to identify your account without more details with your full name and project details so we can assist you promptly.

Glyde Solar is an intentionally dishonest company.
I am a medically retired air force vet that was scammed. I've decided it would be morally reprehensible of me to not try and make as many people as possible aware of Glyde Solar’s business model so that other people, especially folks from the nearby military bases and their families avoid this company. Glyde Solar’s business practices, namely the hidden cancelation fee cost, the company's propensity for delays, and the company's tendency to submit last minute design choices all paint a grim picture. One of a company trying to sandwich people between the hidden cost of the cancelation fee, and an ever increasing total project cost.
Glyde solar does not disclose the cancelation fee costs during initial contract signing, and the salespeople do a great job deflecting questions asked about the cancelation fee or dismiss the costs as negligible. Glyde Solar will acknowledge they aren’t present with the salesperson so they can’t verify what they did or didn’t say, this is an attempt to push the blame to the customer. It’s your fault as the customer that you didn’t know if the salesperson was being upfront with you, because Glyde Solar isn’t going to monitor the salesperson to make sure they are being honest. When you file a complaint to Glyde Solar, they will tell you they weren’t being dishonest and that it’s too complex to give an estimate of the cancelation costs early on. This suggests that they either delete all their sales and cancelation fee data and thus have no information to average and give the customer up front, or they willfully choose not to disclose this information. They will also tell you that it’s you, the customer’s responsibility to know what they are going to charge in their cancelation fee, despite the contract not listing the cancelation fee costs.
The real cost of cancellation is 3500 dollars or more depending on the stage the project is in during cancelation. This number is an average compiled from complaints lodged at Trustpilot, Google Reviews, and the Better Business Bureau as well as my own experiences with the company. There are four items on the cancelation invoice. Roughly 400 dollars for Site survey. 1200 dollars for CAD and Engineering: They are charging you this amount to fly a drone over your house for a minute, take pictures, and then play Tetris with said pictures to figure out how many solar panels they can fit. This gets rolled into the loan and ends up being an obscene over charge in the life of the loan. Permitting and interconnection costs 2000 dollars in most cases. If you complain about this cost being hidden, they will say the customer should be an expert in permitting and solar interconnection and just know these costs. The last item is processing fees, about 200 dollars.
Glyde Solar will usually have significant delays in actually installing and fully activating the solar panels. This is corroborated with numerous complaints on Google Reviews, the Better Business Bureau, and other similar review sites. In some cases, in can take up to a year to fully activate the solar panels, with changes in cost coming from double dipping normal electricity bills tied with the solar panel loan, additional inspections, roofing repairs that are made known last minute, or changes in equipment in some cases further leading to delays and potential increase in cost. Glyde Solar also has a tendency to push last minute plan changes onto the customer and then reveal what the actual cost of cancelation is. In my case, the salesperson used a private line to call and push a last minute extra panel and then chose at that moment to reveal the cancelation costs would be thousands. The company's response was to try and gaslight me and say that I was the one who initiated the project change, despite my phone records showing a private call made from their salesperson. More to say, but out of characters. Editing to comment that company reply didn't dispute that they don't show the actual costs of the cancelation fee in the initial contract. They could average their own sales data or average cancelation costs in an area to give people a rough estimate of the cancelation fees in the initial contract, It would be relatively simple and be far more transparent which your company claims is important.

Mr. Stewart,
First and foremost, thank you for your service to our country. We genuinely value feedback from all our customers, and it's crucial for us to address the concerns you've raised.
Cancellation Fees: It appears there might have been some confusion or oversight regarding the cancellation fee. As detailed in our contract, specifically section 10.4, upon any cancellation after the 3-day right to cancel, all costs incurred by Glyde Solar in pursuing the work are liable to be paid by the Purchaser. This encompasses a wide range of elements, including labor, equipment costs, demobilization costs, and others as specified. We apologize if this was not made clearer initially, but we aim to be transparent in our contractual agreements.
Delay in Installation: We deeply regret any inconvenience caused by delays in the installation process. Sometimes unforeseen circumstances can impact our projected timelines, but we acknowledge the importance of maintaining open and clear communication during these times.
Last Minute Design Changes: All project changes and the associated costs should be communicated upfront and transparently. We will investigate the instance you mentioned to ensure such situations are avoided in the future.
Customer Service and Communication: Your feedback about our communication with our sales representative will be taken very seriously. Every team member at Glyde Solar is expected to uphold our company's core values, and any discrepancies are unacceptable.
Our priority is to ensure that our customers are confident and comfortable with our services, and we wish to demonstrate that commitment to you.
Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. Feedback like yours helps us continually refine our services.

Glyde Solar was the worst company I…
Glyde Solar was the worst company I have ever worked with after spending 70 grand it took them 9 months from the time we signed until they were up and running. No one kept us in the loop of what was happening at one point they had to hire another Solar Co to come in do some work and in hindsight I would never spend that much money for Solar alone and you don’t even get a battery!! So electricity goes out your screwed…I don’t think Solar is all it’s cracked up to be…we had a $170 light bill this month WTH

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear about your experience with Glyde Solar. We take all feedback seriously and strive to ensure all our customers have a positive experience.
We understand the frustrations that can arise from delays and a lack of communication. We are continually working on improving our customer service and project timelines. Your feedback will help us identify areas for improvement.
Regarding the concern about not receiving a battery, we aim to be transparent about our product offerings and ensure our customers know what they're purchasing. Solar systems and battery storage are distinct products, and while we recognize the value of having backup storage, we also understand it might not be a fit for everyone.
Lastly, while solar energy can significantly reduce energy costs, many factors, like local weather patterns and energy consumption habits, can affect monthly bills. We're always here to help you understand your system's performance and offer guidance on how to maximize its benefits.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced. Please feel free to reach out to our customer service team, and we would be happy to address any further concerns you might have.
Warm regards,
The Glyde Solar Team

They have screwed us over
They have screwed us over. Panels don’t work. No one will come out to fix them. Been a year. I have to pay them 164 per month plus my normal electric bill. 200 or more on top of the 164. Stay clear. No customer service. Stay clear
Response from Glyde SolarJul 1, 2023
We are sorry to hear about your solar panel issues. We have spoken to you three times today and six times on the 19th to resolve these issues. We certainly don't want you paying for ineffective solar service in addition to your regular electricity bill. We realize that there were some personal issues on your end when we tried to resolve these issues and that our interactions exacerbated your situation. We will have our support team reach out to you.
