Ongoing bad delivery experience- order at your own risk
I ordered Giordano's pizza on 9/1 thinking that I would have pizza for Labor Day weekend. The first problem came when the pizza got shipped on 9/3. Giordano's emailed me the tracking # and the website for the shipper GLS (based in Europe). I noticed that the shipment originated in Alabama. I guess that means the pizza got made there too. The Giordano's website says that the pizzas are all made in Chicago, go check it out for yourself. Anyway I now live in Texas and I can verify that people in the south do not know how to make a Chicago pizza. The 2nd issue was that the pizza was shipped "Economy" according to the GLS tracking website and it was scheduled to be delivered on 9/15. So wait, that is 12 days in transit! So I contacted Giordanos what was up with the delayed delivery date and with the pizza coming from Alabama. They didn't answer me about the Alabama aspect, but they did tell me that yes, the pizza was scheduled to arrive on 9/15 but if it was thawed to not eat it. Wow - duh. I also tried contacting GLS but after a lengthy hold on the phone, I decided send a msg via website. Never got a response. I emailed Giordanos about GLS. That company seems pretty scammy to me, I've never heard of them and their reviews are horrible. The Giordanos website says that they use Fedex and/or UPS to deliver pizza. Nothing about GLS. The tracking info from GLS says that the pizza went from Alabama to San Marcos, TX and then as of today, 9/10 it is sitting in Ontario, CA. Neither of these cities is anywhere close to where I live. And its 100+ degrees so I'm sure that pizza is getting really ripe. The bad thing is, if the box ever makes it here, I am the one who has to somehow dispose of all those pizzas. My advice: if you live in the south, you are ordering at your own risk. Its a huge roll of the dice. I would not count on these pizzas arriving for a big party or anything. Better have a backup plan. idk if I can update this review later to let you know what happens. I plan on getting a refund. 9/18 - I did contact Giordano's to get a refund. They were extremely apologetic and refunded my money immediately. Based on that, I will add a star to my review. Also, the box of pizzas showed up yesterday. I did not open it. It smelled like overripe yeast.
