All the 5 star reviews are fake. Hundreds of people have been complaining about this company scamming them with the fuel card and ucc filling fee. Some people never heard of them and yet they have ucc against them.
Response from Get FleetsmartsAug 11, 2025
We take these concerns very seriously and want to clarify that we do not file a UCC-1 without the customer’s consent or a signed agreement. A UCC-1 filing is a standard legal notice of a secured interest based on the services the customer has agreed to. We understand this can cause confusion if someone doesn’t recognize our company name, but every filing we make is backed by proper authorization. If you believe a UCC filing was made in error, please contact our support team so we can review and resolve the matter promptly.

Ok this is weird. They put a ucc on my company and I never talked to them. When I called some chic name shenee said that I was interested in their fuel card a few years ago. I see other people have the same experience and it’s definitely not legal. They will charge $500 to cancel that ucc and will take about 4 months based on what the other people have experienced. Anyone with the same experience should do a complaint with the attorney general and police report.

We’d like to assist you directly regarding your concern. Could you please provide us with your company name and email address so we can look into your account and clarify the situation? To clarify: the $500 prep fee covers the administrative costs associated with terminating the UCC filing. This includes processing time, legal documentation, and coordination with the appropriate agencies. Once the fee is received, the UCC filing is terminated within 45 days. We understand this can be frustrating, and we want to ensure your case is handled promptly and transparently. Please reach out so we can help resolve this properly.

Fleetsmarts filed a UCC against my company without funding me or providing any services. I never used their fuel card or any credit line. I only responded to a phone call and agreed to hear more details. After that they filed a lien and now are trying to charge me thousands of dollars just to release it. There was no clear agreement signed and no money ever exchanged. They are demanding a release fee and said it would take up to forty five days even after paying. This has completely blocked me from working with any other factoring company and is affecting my business and income. Everything about this feels like a trap. Their contract says no exclusivity unless financing is used, and I used nothing. I believe they are using predatory tactics to lock down carriers through hidden liens and vague terms. If you get a call from them do not agree to anything and avoid doing business with this company. I have made every attempt to resolve this professionally. I have called. I have emailed. I have sent messages. I have received no response. Your company filed a lien without my full understanding or consent. I never received any funds. I never used your services. I was pressured over the phone while I was driving and only said okay, not yes, and was then sent documents afterward. I was told I could cancel anytime as long as I did not use the fuel card, which I never did. If the release is not provided today, I will be filing a small claim in court tomorrow. Your lien is blocking me from operating my business and your refusal to respond or cooperate is unacceptable.

Hi Mr. Perez, We’re sorry to hear about your frustration and appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation. Our records show that you provided verbal authorization to proceed during your onboarding call, which is a valid and accepted form of consent for initiating services, including the filing of a UCC-1. This is part of our standard industry process when opening a line of credit or setting up factoring services. A copy of your signed agreement was also sent to you via email, which includes the following clause: "Fleetsmarts provides, at additional cost, Letter of Release and Buyout Agreements upon request." Additionally, we want to correct a misunderstanding: A UCC-1 filing does not block you from working with other factoring companies. It is a standard security interest filing that protects our position but does not restrict your ability to engage with other providers, provided all parties are informed and terms are understood. We operate in good faith and follow all legal and ethical standards. Claims that suggest otherwise are both inaccurate and potentially defamatory, as they do not reflect the full context of your agreement or interaction with our team. We are always willing to work with clients directly to resolve issues, and we encourage you to reach out to us if you'd like to review the terms of your account or request a formal release.

Just like many other reviews, had the same story with UCC filling. They used an innocent yes to receive an email and review the terms to file a UCC. Now, cannot factor with nobody else, and Fleetsmart is forcing me to pay $500 to get letter of release after 45 days. What am I supposed to do for 45 days? At this moment, thinking to find a lawyer. Perhaps, several carriers can group together to fight this and split the lawyer cost. Send me a message if willing to fight together. Additional info to Fleetsmart comment: in order for UCC to be legally enforceable, the creditor has to have security interest, a signed agreement, and specify services provided or goods purchased. Our company is not doing any business with Fleetsmart whatsoever nor signed any agreements, therefore, your UCC filing holds no merit. To ask $500 for termination is extortion. Update: to force us to pay $500 for UCC that does not hold merit is illegal. Further, to wait 45 days for the letter of release is unheard of. Is FleetSmart going to pay our truck payment, trailer payment, insurance payment, accounting, dispatch for those 45 days while we wait for release letter? If so, sure. I pay you $500, sit for 45 days, and you pay us $10K for damages. No problem.

(UPDATED) Thank you for reaching out and for sharing what you’ve been going through. I’m really sorry this experience has been so difficult — I completely understand how upsetting it is, especially when it’s affecting your ability to earn and provide for your family. Please know that I’m here to help. I’ve looked into your case, and according to our records, our Buyout Team has already responded to your email. As of July 11, 2025, we’ve updated our policy: the Letter of Release (LOR) will be issued within 45 days after the termination fee has been paid. This timeline was set to ensure proper review and processing for all UCC terminations in compliance with internal procedures. Again, I’m here to assist you in any way I can — but please understand that we must follow this process moving forward.
