Lacking appreciation for customer…
Lacking appreciation for customer loyalty. I moved into my home in 5/2018 and the garage door opener that had a problem was the Genie one. Initially, when I figured out what was wrong...I ordered the part from the Genie website and made my fix. I subsequently found out that there was an additional problem and when I got back in touch to figure out if I could repair, or if I should just replace...I was met with a "eh...you could do whatever". In asking what products would make for an easier replacement by a novice...there was also very little color given. Because of that, I tried a repair and ordered new parts again (one of them was to replace the part I had just recently replaced but had been broken by the other issue). Upon making the fix, I found out that this was turning into a situation where I might end up replacing all the parts! When I said I wanted to make a return, so I could just buy a new Genie chain driven opener...I was told parts are not returnable if used. The only thing I did was to see if the new door limit trigger would stop the carriage (it didn't). I didn't even really install it...just hooked it up to the wire. None of Genie's stances are incorrect....they just do not lead one to be desirous of having a longer term relationship with the company. With that said, I did install the new chain drive opener and the product itself is great. Just a small tweak in how they interact with their customers could make me a customer for life!
