I am a retired federal employee using GEHA instead of Medicare Part B. For the first time in many years I was told that GEHA would not cover my flu and COVID vaccines! Instead they directed me to Medicare Part B where I don’t have coverage! It is a great hardship for someone on a fixed income to have to pay for these necessary vaccines out of pocket. I am switching to Blue Cross/Blue Shield next month during open season. GEHA is the worst!

G.E.H.A. FEDVIP dental insurance is a complete and utter scam. We had every single filling that my husband got, denied- told that the information dentist provided did not support the work. I have been with the same dentist for over 20 years having other insurance and never had any claim denied. We are charging this open season and I would strongly, and I mean strongly, suggest you go to any other provider. Their coverage is poor to begin with and they will deny every single claim.

This is a negative star company. Used to be good. Now just takes your premium and denies claims because it can’t find you in its system! Then when you send a hard copy of the claim, including copy of your insurance card, as they requested they deny it as untimely. So they think that they can make a mistake then not pay a claim because you did not try to fix it for them in time! That was a medical claim. They also denied $8500 in dental claims for orthodontia, crowns and tooth extraction. You’re be better off without insurance than with GEHA because at least you wouldn’t have a wasted premiums.

I have been a GEHA customer for several years. This year GEHA denied a claim for an unreasonable cause because I didn't tell them whether I had outside insurance (I don't, and they never asked before denying it), failed to process the claim in a timely way, and failed to communicate the updates status to the billing provider. While these problems may not be illegal or against policy, they ultimately cause serious harm to the consumer in a systematized way. It has been over 4 months and I am being forced to pay more than $9000 for a claim that GEHA still hasn't finished reviewing. I would like to see GEHA penalized with all possible penalties to the maximum extent.

As a retired military member and government employee my advice to fellow peers is STAY AWAY. I used GEHA dental this year basically to cover cleanings, and am paying roughly $780 a year in premiums. GEHA contract says two cleanings are covered in full each year. The one cleaning I had this year was fully denied (they stated the Dr. office was out of network, when it was not). After calling their customer service the attempted explanation I received had zero logic. So I essentially forked over $780 this year for absolutely nothing. This is an unethical company. I am glad my claim is small as I read others who were caught off guard, and on the hook for much larger amounts and have a fight ahead.

Yes the premiums are cheaper but customer service lacks in all areas. I have never had such poor service, lack of professionalism, lack of knowledge ever from a company. I spoke to 7 different representatives in one day and was told different things from each of them. Coverage is not good on prescriptions and they try to push CVS pharmacy because they have Caremark and honestly prices were cheaper at Walgreens Do your research

They know if you can't change your phone number, then you can't file claims or anything for reimbursement. So even though you can change your phone number easier with the department of defense then you can with GEHA, they just keep creating problems until you finally give up. The worst insurance policy I have ever had. And I've been insured for 25 years with different government plans. Also, their AI bots don't need to bother to post some "please call us we want to make it right" reply to this review because I've spent 6 hours on the phone with at least 10 calls trying to change the phone number and it never works.
