Car was misrepresented. Definitely buyer beware type of seller. Do your research. They won't necessarily flat out lie to you but they aren't going to offer any information that would keep you out of a bad purchase. They want to move cars and don't care if you're purchasing under false pretences. Doesn't mean all their cars are bad just that they are a little shady.

I have purchased a '78 super beetle and was, in fact, quiet pleased with gateway them selves, the salesman was quite helpful and moved everything along quiet well, the problem I have is that I Purchased this vehicle for $xxxxx on the expectation that it was road ready as advertised, I found this to be incorrect as I've already invested an additional $2k in parts alone (doing labor myself) to get it road ready. example: all brakes needed to be rebuilt, fuel gauge was showing 1/4 tank but was inaccurate only had about a gallon of fuel in it and when I filled it up there was a major fuel smell and multiple leaks so I had to rebuild the entire fuel system, this list goes on) I hadn't intended this to be a project car but it is turning out that way, had I known more about the problems with it I would have offered about 4 or 5k less as I would have known the work involved (although I do take some of the blame as I should have done a more thorough inspection) but the vehicle was advertised in "good working order and road ready" I found this to be untrue as I'm still working on it to get it road worthy and in safe operating condition. I think maybe a more thorough inspection by Gateway as to what the seller/consigner is saying they're is would be more beneficial in the future to anyone wishing to purchase a classic vehicle from Gateway, this will also ensure a more positive reputation also. Overall the salesperson was helpful and was not pushy at all, I just wish the vehicle was as advertised....

I purchased a 1967 Rambler in Feb of this year. It was deliver in may. Since then it has been in the shop. After driving it to get an inspection sticker it had a noise in transmission. Found out it had to be replaced. Then it had trouble starting when hot. Presently I am having the gas tank restored because it was full of rust and gunk. Hopefully if I get it to run I can fix the hot start problem. I called Gateway with my problem and got the standard answer. Well you know it is an older vehicle. I done not know how with a little driving you could not know how bad it was. The first time I drove it when I shut it off it would not start. It was not my first purchase. I expect some problems but not for it to be in the shop all summer.

Very bad after sale customer service

Did not feel that I got a fair shake at Gateway every time I would call about my vehicle there would be a different salesman that did not know a lot about my car I felt as though it was not marketed properly that car should have brought me a lot more than I got so be it but would not sell another car at the Gateway (Dallas) location this is my honest opinion about Gateway.

Communication was very good when I dropped the car off and went drastically down hill after that. I NEVER received any calls from GCC until it was time to renew or continue my payment. I actually found out the car had been sold through a friend on a blog page. When i would call to ask questions the sales persons would bad mouth each other. When the car did sell, immediately sent my paper overnight using Fedex. When I asked if my payment could be sent the same way I was told absolutely not. I was given a routing number and found that USPS acidently sent the envelope to the wrong side of the country. When I called the office to alert them of the issue I was told that was impossible and not the case. I finally received my payment over week. I feel the check they sent out could have been canceled and a new check overnight to me. There was absolutely no customer service. I called with my concerns that my car was gone, GCC had their commission and I had nothing. At that point I was hung up on. I did speak with a regional manager, he did little to nothing to want to keep a possible repeat customer.

Here are a few words that describe my experience. (confusing, misinformed, poor) 1. Promised me things that never happened. 2. Never fully explained the process to me. 3. Salesmen turnover rate was high so I had to work with several different people who didn't have any idea what was going on with my vehicle. 4. Felt pressured to except an offer below my asking price. Not sure I'd use them again.

Had to sell car for less than original sales representative promised it was worth. Took two sessions to do it, went through 3 sales representatives.
