Paid $79,006 just to leave, and they're still holding our goods
Our company used Fulfillment Hub USA's Miami/Doral warehouse from mid-2025 until we wound down in 2026. I'm writing this so other businesses know what to expect, especially when it's time to leave. We were told the move to FHU would happen with no downtime. Within about two months, we had a backlog of more than 50 unshipped orders, missing and damaged product, and slow or no answers from management. Freight orders were still stalling in early 2026, including an international shipment that waited over two weeks just for a freight quote. We gave notice to move out. As our company wound down, FHU sent a "final notice" threatening legal action and stating it would hold our inventory as security. We negotiated and paid $44,000 to settle. We then asked FHU, in writing, to pack and ship everything out and book the freight. Their own warehouse manager replied that "with our current resources" they could move only a few trucks a week, and FHU required prepayment before loading anything. FHU agreed to waive September storage if our goods were out by September 15. They didn't send the prepayment invoice until September 16, the day after their own deadline. We prepaid $35,006, exactly what FHU quoted for move-out work and five trucks. FHU committed in writing to start with three trucks. It shipped two, and our buyer ended up arranging and paying for the freight on both. Not one of the five prepaid trucks was used. FHU's next statement said we owed more than $26,000 and didn't reflect our $35,006 payment at all. When we disputed it, FHU admitted in writing that $20,542.11 of our prepayment was never used. Rather than return it, they applied it to storage charges, including the September storage they had agreed to waive, then demanded $10,044.74 more. They've told us more charges are coming. Our remaining customer order is being held until we pay. The totals: • $44,000 paid to settle a disputed balance • $35,006 prepaid for move-out work and five trucks • $79,006 paid just to close our account • Five trucks prepaid, two shipped, none on FHU-paid freight • $20,542.11 of our money FHU admits was never used • $10,044.74 more demanded, with a customer order held until it's paid If you're considering FHU: • Ask for their real outbound capacity, in trucks per week, in writing. • Read the contract terms on holding inventory as security. • Never prepay without a written refund policy for unused services. • Keep every commitment in writing. • Ask for references from customers who have left, not just current ones. In our experience, once FHU has your inventory, it becomes leverage. I wouldn't recommend them
