Model #GRFS2853AF Refrigerator: don't rely on Frigidaire warranty service
We purchased a Frigidaire Gallery Standard-Depth 27.8-cu ft 3-Door French Door Refrigerator (Model GRFS2853AF, Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel, Dual Ice Maker, Water & Ice Dispenser, ENERGY STAR) from the McAlester, OK Lowe’s on February 13, 2026. It was finally delivered on April 21, 2026. The refrigerator worked acceptably for about five months. In the week of September 14, 2026, fault codes appeared signifying high temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer. The unit was not making much ice either. We spent days following every diagnostic and DIY fix Frigidaire lists online. None of them worked. What followed from Frigidaire/Electrolux customer service was a masterclass in delay, misinformation, and broken commitments: September 21, 2026 at 10:46 a.m. – First call. We explained the fault codes and every failed DIY attempt. We were told a service ticket would be created and we would receive a call or email with a service appointment within 72 hours. September 22, 4:41 p.m. – Email arrived confirming ticket #1008653808. No appointment. September 24 – We called back because the 72-hour window had closed. We were promised a service appointment by noon on September 25. September 25 – Nothing. September 30 – Another call. Now we were told they have 7–10 business days to schedule a repair, and if they still hadn’t set one up they would replace the unit by October 5. Multiple emails after that claimed the ticket had been sent to various repair companies, only for those assignments to be cancelled. October 9 – Frigidaire finally called and said they would replace the refrigerator… but it would take “several more days” to actually do it. In other words: after nearly three weeks of phone calls, empty promises, cancelled tickets and no working refrigerator, Frigidaire still had not scheduled a single repair visit or completed a replacement. On the same day as one of those unproductive Frigidaire calls (September 30), we contacted the McAlester, OK Lowe’s store where we had purchased the refrigerator and spoke with Kendyl. Within 30 minutes she had arranged a full replacement refrigerator for us. No runaround. No “7–10 business days.” No cancelled tickets. Just competent, customer-first service. The contrast could not be clearer. Frigidaire’s warranty process left us with a non-working refrigerator and a growing stack of broken commitments. Lowe’s, specifically Kendyl at the McAlester store, solved the problem the same day we asked. If you are considering this Frigidaire model, understand that once something goes wrong you may face weeks of frustration and unreliable communication from the manufacturer. Buy it from a retailer that actually stands behind what they sell. In our case, Lowe’s did exactly that—and did it better and faster than the company that built the appliance. Model: GRFS2853AF Purchase: February 13, 2026 (Lowe’s McAlester, OK) Delivery: April 21, 2026 Service ticket: #1008653808 We will buy from Lowe’s again without hesitation. We will not buy another Frigidaire if we can help it.
