Linda
I am sure that I entered all of my info into a specific lender's website, but all of a sudden, up came the dozen or more lenders who were going to get my info and begin to call me. NOT NICE. NOT NICE AT ALL. The one lender I wanted wasn't even one of them, BTW.
Response from FreeRateUpdate.comOct 14, 2016
Hi Linda! Thank you for reviewing us! I am sorry if you were confused as to the website that you were on. The FreeRateUpdate.com Logo appears in a fairly large font on almost every page of our site. We also have a disclosure directly under where you entered your telephone number that you are giving your permission to be contacted by up to five lenders. If this is not what you wanted, we would have not only removed you from our call list, but also notified the lenders to do the same. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

Contacted me promptly but provided lender with the wrong information (name, address, etc for someone else). I told the lender to call me back when they got the info squared away. I do not expect to receive a call.

Hi John! Thanks for reviewing us at FreeRateUpdate.com! The lender we connected you with was brand new to our vast network of lenders and had a brief issue with receiving the information we were sending over to them. But thank you for alerting us...we'll make sure it's corrected going forward!

You click on just enpough info to become a "lead" and then they have someone contact you from one company contact you. It wasn't what the site hipes itself to be. A waste of time.
David
Entered more and more info just trying to find out what current rates were. Didn't ever see any rates, and then got a bunch of unwanted phone calls.
Earl
Was advertised as a "mortgage calculator" to assist with estimating mortgage payments, instead it misleads you through the input of all of your contact info, then quickly forwards your info to lenders to call you and solicit their services. Highly cheesed off.

The site says "free rate quote" but it is actually a solicitation site for lenders. Provide your information to this site and be prepared to be deluged with calls from mortgage brokers. Your email address and phone number will be distributed without your permission. If all those brokers run credit checks on you it may have a negative effect on your credit score.
