Our faithful +330,000 mile 1998 Ford F-150 truck finally decided to die, but we wouldn't let that be the end of the truck that brought our family such joy over the decades. We finally decided to buy a remanufactured engine from Fraser after wading through a sea of bad reviews against every rebuilder out there. The main turning point was Fraser's low price point, their one-time no-fault warranty, and the fact that they operate only in the US with a warehouse in Texas. We started the engine right up after pre-lubing it and it purred like a kitten. At the time of this review the new engine is still in it's break-in cycl e and the PCM is doing its P01000 checks: Crossed fingers that it doesn't find anything by time the engine is broken in. We were a little odded out by our first sales call to Fraser, we had heard they were difficult to work with, but our representative was just curt and professional. The new engine came with a black paint job, which was peeling off already on the area above rear main seal. Not a big deal to us, you can't see much of the engine with all the accessories on anyways. The timing cover also came without two studs on the passenger side for the water pump retention nuts. we figured it could've been something Ford changed between 98 and the 2004-2008 versions of the engine. Again, nothing we couldn't work around. the holes were threaded where the studs should have been, so we measured the depth and bought some grade 9.8 bolts to hold down the water pump. Anyways, everything is doing good and running clean so far! Thank you Fraser.
