Threatened With Account Restrictions After Leaving an Honest Review
FlyWP deleted around 12,000 images — then threatened account restrictions over my review We manage around 300 WordPress sites, with 55 sites affected by a serious incident on FlyWP. During what FlyWP described as its own security response, our WordPress administrator account was deleted. Posts and pages were affected, and FlyWP later confirmed that around 12,000 article images were permanently deleted with no usable pre-incident backup available. They did make efforts afterwards to restore what they could, and they have since provided $80 in account credit. However, what has happened since posting this review is extremely concerning. FlyWP contacted me asking me to update or remove this Trustpilot review and said: “we’d also prefer not to take any action against your account or restrict your access.” That is completely unacceptable in my view. Whether I leave an honest review should have absolutely nothing to do with whether FlyWP restricts access to our hosting/server management account. We still have 55 affected websites and approximately 12,000 permanently lost images. An $80 credit does not make that damage disappear. I am happy to update this review to fairly acknowledge the credit and the recovery work their team carried out. What I will not do is remove factual information or change my review because I am being warned that action could be taken against our account. The original incident was bad enough. Linking our account access to whether I update or remove a Trustpilot review has made the situation considerably worse.
